Nerf Gun Props? YES!

Here is my youngests with the front painted to get a better look. I'm going to cut the bottle spout off and cover the hole and main body with a few bit n bobs to give it a bit more "shape".

Something that might be cool, is pic up one of those 9 led flashlights from harbor Freight, and cut that opening large enough to hold one by compression.

Put an O ring on it so it won't slide all the way in, and then just slide it out, turn it on, and pop it back in.

You might want to reinforce that opening with a cut of painted pvc pipe if the bottle plastic is too thin to support the flashlight weight.

(And pick up a few of those flashlights, since its cheaper to replace them than to buy new batteries for them!)

Any chance of a referance pic? I'll see if I can get an equivalent over here in the UK.

The depth of the plastic around the hole is surprisingly thick, so it should be plenty strong enough to support a light of some kind.

I do have these that I was going to use as gunlights for the boys:

but if the light you suggested looks good I might go with that instead.

3-1/2" Nine LED Flashlights, 2 Pack

On sale, they sell the two pack of red and blue for $1 US. I've seen them at walmart here as well, so I'm sure there's a UK equivalent.

They are VERY bright, and use 3 aaa batteries, included.

The batteries they come with will last about 6 hours. (I used these inside my clear greeen maverick green lantern conversions at Dragoncon this past year.)

They also have or HAD coupons on their mail outs that gave you a free one without a purchase as I recall. I stopped grabbing them once I had about 20 in reserve :) great little flashlights.

I actually have one of these (why I didn't get what you were on about I don't know :facepalm). I'll do a test fit tonight after work and see what it looks like.

I actually managed to fit one mostly inside the Maverick handle, and a second inside the maverick body.

I'm going to go with the ones I bought originally. They look cooler than the aluminium one I have, and will match his gun's final paint job. I have some 1 and 2mm plastic sheet I get from work that I can cover the front with, a bit of reshaping and it should be good to go.

I've been lurking on these forums for a while now and have been following this thread for quite some time.
I thought i'd share some guns i've made.
Sorry in advance for the crappy phone photos.

The first one is a sort of spit wad gun i found at a local target.
I think the thing hurts a little to much for it to be safe for kids.
I've got the welts to prove it.

Man, some of these builds are so epic! I can't wait to get to the stage of weapon building at this level.
Drooling at the awesome :p

I've been taking advantage of the great weather we'er having

Hanging around waiting for the next phase

90% done

I've got to tidy up the inside a bit so all the parts can move smoothly, paint a bit I missed, and weather it a bit. After that it gets it's top coat and will be delivered to its very happy owner.

Also made a start on my youngests (he really likes the red N7 colour scheme and wanted his like that)

Damn, this is fun :)

Hi guys

I got a bit more done on the Barricade mod.

Internals are back in, and I added the gun light:

I didn't weather it in the end as my skills are still rather rusty, but lucky for me he contacted me and wanted to keep it looking new.

I'm just waiting for a couple of parts to dry that I chromed (safety catch and stock lock), and the apoxy to harden in a few places, and it's done. I'm so chuffed with this one I might have to do another variation of it. I found a rip-off version that has a really cool built in stock, but otherwise identical.

Variation #2 (barricade showing original idea for mounting the stock part):

FYI: This week:

Target has the Nerf Vortex (the one shot disc pistol) is on sale for $4.99.

K-Mart has buy one get one (BOGO) 50% off for Nerf N-Strike Blasters.

Anyone seen that NERF Pulse Rifle over at AL? May be in this thread too but thought I'd point it out. :)

Look up Quest's work on this forum, he has also made a beauty of a pulse rifle from nerf guns. Once I get good enough at modding them I'm definately going to attempt one as a preasant for my bro (Aliens fan).

Speaking of modding practice, I had a moment of insperation whilest looking at a collapsible storage box I had (I say had as it's now being cut up into very cool looking parts that I can slap on to my guns). I took the handles off as I recond that together they would look like a kind of stock, so I tried it on my youngests FrankenNerf: (please excuse the use of tape at this point) :

His so far (sorry for crappy indoor pics)

Added the handles:

I got a component tray from work (they chuck them out anyway) as it has some usefull shapes I could use and chopped off the pieces I wanted:

Needs a trim, but this cutoff could work

All together

I've still got a few thing to do to it, like the red dot laser and a few more disguises for the bottle, but I think I'll run with this look.
