Nemesis Tricorder Kit - help needed

OK. So I got this great Kit from another RPFer. It's the Thermal Nemesis Tricorder. I am all psyched up to built it but one problem, there's no instruction sheet! (yes, I was aware of this when I bought it). There are a few parts that I can't figure out. I PM'd Thermal but as of today, almost a week later, I haven't heard back, so I figure with this many members, someone as obsessive about not discarding things as me must have a copy of the instructions that they could scan and email me, huh?

Also, any info on paint codes (that are available in the US) or any other factoids would be welcome. Thanks,

RGP

hi, i have one of thermals builds and a kit, i also provided him with all the detailed pictures of the real prop so that he could construct the replica. what parts are you needing I.D.?

Um, let's see, there's some screws with treaded barrel things, and I think there are parts that I have to cut out for the swing out sections arms.

ok the micro screws and inserts are for the back door. and the swing arms you have to cut out and glue on the hood housing. hope that helps.

Ok. I got home and went over the kit with an eye towards more exact questions.

I still need info on the following:

1) The correct assembly of the 3 smaller black resin parts. Two seem to form the front and back of the scanner hood, and the third is a long, thin piece with a long keyhole slot in it.

2) Placement of the two flat circular accessories.

3) Placement of the swivel rods relative to the body and position of the receiving holes on the scanner hood rocker arms.

4) Placement of adhesive graphics and epoxy covered graphics.

Diagrams or scale blueprints would be extremely helpful, especially in regard to the correct position of the scanner swivel rod assembly. Photos taken from orthoganal views would be almost as good, in both the folded and open position.

Also, I'd still like opinions on paint codes.

Wasn't there any instructions distributed with this item?

RGPFX, thats alot of detailed info lol...um i'll have to take some pictures or dig out the pics of the original prop to show you placement. I don't think Thermal ever drew up any plans for how to put one of these together.

As far as the paint code goes its the 1008. the same was used on the phasers.

I'm a detailed guy, 7G:). I build a lot of models, and this one needs clarification to be done justice. Re: the 1008, is that for Plasticote?

Thanks,

im at my home away from home hotel at the moment, I should be off work tomorrow as they don't run one of the trains on monday.

Cool. Do you think you will be able to post info that will help answer these questions ?

Thats about as good as the picture can get of the inside, i cannot take a better picture of the working hood hinge and rod sorry.

Wow! This is extremely helpful. There are still a few things that I'd like to see/know...

1) a photo from the same position as the second one above, but with the hood open

2) a photo with the graphics visible and lights (I'm guess there are lights since there appear to be batteries) turned on.

3) a few dimensions as close as possible...
a. The width of the swingout hood hinge slots
b. The distance between the slots
c. The depth of the screen surface from the exterior face surface.
since the Vac-form seems unnaturally deep.

4) Paint codes and manufacturers?

Thanks a lot.

2) a photo with the graphics visible and lights (I'm guess there are lights since there appear to be batteries) turned on. Not going to happen sorry plus batteries are dead

3) a few dimensions as close as possible...I'll work on these as well

Please keep in mind it might take me a few days to get back to you on these as I have other projects in the works plus my job takes me away for a couple of days at a time. As for the graphics, I created the bubble dome and the main graphic but Thermal created the graphics under the hood, therefore I will not photograph and show those.

I'm OK with waiting a few days. Can you show the graphics blurred out or otherwise defaced, so I can get placement idea of which goes where?

Any idea how many LEDs are in the "ping-pong" array?

swing arm slot width: 1/16"
distance between slots, center to center: 3 1/16
graphics set about 1/16 to 2/16 in depth, so trim the area from the inside you want as minimal amount of lip left into the graphic cavity.

If memory serves I think there are 22 leds in the hood i'll have to double check the mpeg movie I took of the original, unless someone who owns one of the originals whats to chime in.

as for the placement of the graphics

GEO, Met, Bio graphic goes on the main body to the left, then the LIB A/B in the center and the EMRG on the far right.

The Ex Sys goes on the inside hood far left then the COM in the center and the silver rectangle with the gold smaller square goes on the right.

That's spectacular, 7G, thanks so much, and good luck with that nuclear plant thingy!
