Need Reference photos and any basic info regarding sewing a dye sub Spiderman costume

So I'm working with a local seamstress, who is helping me put together my ( Kaine ) scarlet spider dye sub costume and I am looking for any reference images and any other info to make sure it comes out as good as possible. During the sewing process I will post pics as well to help guide others in this situation later. Here is an image of the dye sub print we are starting with.

Awesome print. You got it done by Sonjou right? I got one done from him as well (Spectacular Spiderman cartoon version). One problem I'm having is sending the file (552MB tif file) to a dye sub company. I've tried using dropbox and a few other ways, but none seem to work. May I ask how you sent your file to get printed?

Yeah i got the print design from Sonjou, and have you tried fabric on demand yet. I know they ship world wide. That's where I printed mine and they are very helpful through email and over the phone.

TheNickFox has shown on several occasions how these costumes are pieced together, so to save the poor guy writing it again I'll show some ref pic used in the past which may aid people sewing these together:

Thanks for the info- however, I can't read any of the text on the neck area. I am a seamstress and trying to sew together the first of several suits. also how do people finish the ankle/shoe area.

I am sure people have posted about this- I'm new to the site so if you want to direct me to other threads I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

The gap which is the neck area sew together, and here is how the feet should go together.

anigswes . . . When you get the info you need - and understand it - perhaps you can create some YouTube videos on/for the process of sewing the various parts of a dye-sub suit . . . :)

. . . much like member STEALTH created a series of PEPAKURA - HOW TO videos (which are amazingly helpful).

For myself, seeing something done is demonstrably helpful.
I would guess that the same holds true for many here at RPF.

In any case ... it was just a thought (if even possible). :)

I think it's a great idea that dude

Re: Need Reference photos and any basic info regarding sewing a dye sub Spiderman cos

Only problem with that is finding someone willing to make the video most ppl. Wont show anything because they either sell them or just dont want to give info i had to do some serious research on some old forums that dated back when the first movie came out and got some info but its real hard to find now a days

Well, the cat's out of the bag NOW ... so, for someone(s) who has the sewing skills - and a dye-sub suit pattern - why not (if possible) make a helpful tutorial series on "How To Assemble & Sew a Dye Sub Costume" ??

:D

All I know is my seamstress would never let me film her work. So don't look to me for the video...as much as I would love to the the information out there.

I hear what you're saying . . . pity that some people are so tight with things like this.
Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

In fact, you wouldn't even have to show her face - only her hands working the sewing machine while you provide the narration. Or, it can be silent and you can put up subtitle captions describing what is going on, witch some superhero costume appropriate background music. ;)

Yah, I know ... she still likely won't let it happen. :(

Whatever happened to helping your fellow man - sheesh.
