Anyone know what I can use for the backpack?

All depends on your budget and skill I suppose. Many people have made the Backpack from carboard and foam, others sculpted and moulded. Dread beads budget wise can be as simple as PVC pipe painted or again sculpted and moulded.  Many threads contain all the processes I have mentioned and can be found through the search engine.
