Hey everyone, i am in the process of making a Pink Ranger helmet. I want to be able to make a mold and cast it several times. I need help with materials. Can anyone recommend a good silicon from smooth on to make the mold? and what resin i should use to make the casts? also how do i know how much resin to pour into the mold?

Thanks

Mold Max 30 is always a good option for molding. I've never had any problems with it. And for casting the helmet I usually use smooth cast 65d. It's a resin specifically designed for rotocasting. I usually do 4 layers of the 65d. You want to build up your thickness instead of trying to get it in one go.

For something that size, I would go with a brush on mold. Rebound 25 is pretty good. You can also use Mold Max 30, like pitchforknumb said, and thicken it up with Thi-Vex.

I'll second Rebound 25 with Thi-Vex. Thi-Vex to thicken up your layers is a life saver i cant recommend that enough. For casting I've heard Smooth Cast 65d has pretty low heat tolerance but i've no experience with it myself. I like using Smooth Cast 320 series.

65D is nice because it gels before it cures. It's easier the get an even coating and you'll probably get less air bubbles than the 300 or 320 series.
