So, my publisher only pays royalties 1 time a year and does not really do much to promote my books, which got me thinking of doing a KickStarter campaign for my next novel, (which is a collection of Sherlock Holmes stories by the way).
My publisher, as well as many, many mainstream publishers are now going that route of doing a campaign first, in that they get all of their production costs up front and a good portion of royalties as well. So I was thinking that I may just do it myself. Especially since my position was "eliminated" at work two months ago and I've not had any bites on a new job yet.
My thought was to offer hardcover books only from KickStarter and then after the campaign, offer only paperback versions for general sale, so there is a big benefit in supporting the campaign.
The problem is, I cannot seem to find a decent template builder to make the dust jacket. It's a 6 x 9 trim size and for the life of me I can't figure out the best way to do it. I have the artwork for the cover, just need to piece it to a spine and back cover.
Can one of the guru's here point me in the right direction, please? I would be forever grateful.
