so.... perhaps i missed this but, does anyone know what this new "HUGE" prototype was that everyone was buzzing about? it wasn't simply the 18" P1 was it? anybody?

Nah, I thought the 'variant set' was going to be Smart Disc / Combi-Stick....not masked, unmasked, combistick, smart disc, I figured they would give us a removable mask version for both the smart disc and combistick variants. Thus, seeing the second non-swappable head was a surprise to me, I anticipated variants - I'll just get the combistick masked version myself.

Sorry guys, I won't voice my opinion anymore, instead I'll just accept anything and everything. Even when that's not the case, I'll just lie so I can be as politically correct as possible. Didn't mean to mortally offend you guys through text based transmissions. *Gets over it and has a ruined day.*

We're obivously getting a masked and unmasked ver, so i wouldn't be suprised if Neca make more variants...
A final battle P2 with the left forearm cut off? < THAT i'd love to see, Or a Med version with the medical kit + blood maybe with the rebreather aswell? who knows!?
I'm just waaaaay to excited for this bad boy. That prototype is bitchin'!

You just seemed to be working yourself into a tizzy over something that, this being NECA, is a given.

NECA has always done variants...always have...always will.

You just seemed to be working yourself into a tizzy over something that, this being NECA, is a given.

NECA has always done variants...always have...always will.

I disagree, it is bull ****. The sculpting is top notch and probably has a lot to do with why NECA is able to get away with said bull ****, because the sculpts are just amazing. If the sculptor wasn't as great as he is, I would never, ever support NECA, even if they had a license I was interested in.

Multiple variants just for a complete figure is bull ****, no matter how many times they've done it and will continue to do it. Three dollars for a gallon of gas, no matter the likelihood of it decreasing significantly, is bull ****.

On the other hand, NECA releasing a full package for 30 dollars or so, with everything the customer needs with that 'one' figure, is excellent value and business, gas dropping back down to pocket change per gallon is awesome, and also NOT bull ****.

I'm not working myself into a tizzy at all, I'm excited for the release so I can get the single that I want. I'll sing praises for the sculptor and the work behind it, but not so much the scum bag business practices that NECA and other toy companies are all into these days.

That much is obvious, but just because one says 'this is scarce' doesn't make it so. The supply is plenty enough to meet the demand, prices go up based on lies, not facts, regarding gas anyway. Regarding NECA, it's just shrewd business with total disregard for value and almost disdain for the customers, the variant count is just vulgar, same with McFarlane's Halo figures.

They've got a smaller scale too, 10-15 dollars per figure, one tiny grenade and one weapon. You buy a Kaiyodo Revoltech for 40 dollars you've got articulation to last you a lifetime and multiple accessories, not even counting the swappable hands/heads. Forty dollars is a heck of a lot cheaper in the long run and is more value, Kaiyodo can do it, why can't these guys? Better to have one primary figure than five or more taking up space.

Anyway, as mentioned earlier I wouldn't even have brought it up were it not for my originally thinking that the mask was removable and that the variants were going to be accessory based. Though, that's not to discount complaining from a valid discussion...but anyway, I'm not trying to derail this thread.

I do understand where you're coming from.

But I really like the variants. It allows me to display the figures with all the different accessories and poses I want without having to contantly change 1 figure.

Now...back on topic.
