NasalHair - Dr Doom Costume COMPLETED

Re: My take on Dr Doom mask.

Very nice design, I take it´s based on a pep file, or did you "wing" it by piecing it together freehand? Ah, the only very minor critique I have is hat the rivet below and above the eyes seem to be a bit large and without a function. In the comics designs they seem to attach the frames around the eyes to the mask, here they look like IMO a bit too much like decorative elements. But you captured the overall essence of Doom very well with that mask, kudos!

What materials did you use to make it? Any progress pics?

Michael

Re: My take on Dr Doom mask.

yeah, you might be right about the bottom eye rivets.
to be honest though all my rivets turned out bigger than the concept, but oh well, this wasnt a big project just something i did real quick.
yeah i used pep
Ive been a 3d modeler for about 10 years so when i found pep that was cool for me, could finally make something and bring it to life.

its all fiberglass and resin. airbrushed with tamiya.

I'll attach a render of the model.

Re: My take on Dr Doom mask.

Still it's pretty sweet!! Now we just need to get you a Green Hood and Jerkin going. Oh, better yet a Green Hoodie for a more Urban Doom :lol

FTW :thumbsup

Re: My take on Dr Doom mask.

is the pep open for anyone to use?

btw great mask. i would't ask for the pep if it wasn't (y)thumbsup

Re: My take on Dr Doom mask.

I might release the pep for it someday but not at the moment, had some plans for it right now.

in the meantime though im working on the rest of the armor.

the model is a lil bland looking but most the detail will be added to the actual piece with a dremel anyways. gonna fill the gaps with chain-mail more like the Dr Doom in the cutscenes from marvel ultimate alliance.

Re: My take on Dr Doom mask.

Great stuff!! Loving this so far. Some of those curves are going to be fun *cough* to pep, but I can't wait to see this come about. More Doom is always a good thing!

Re: My take on Dr Doom mask.

i dont rely on pep itself that much, its more of a size and shape guideline for some of the stuff I do, The mask however seemed to translate perfect.. alot of stuff ive done though the pep model is more of just a starting point for me, alot faster and more symmetrical than the old fashion way of prototyping.

Re: My take on Dr Doom mask.

Also a small preview of something else ive been working on for my brother, I'll make a full post on it at a later date.

Re: My take on Dr Doom mask.

Hey, my money for supplies kinda ran short so i haven't had much to update.

I have revised the model for my mask a bit and might make a new one.

aside from that i should be able to do more work on the armor now since my birthday was the 24th i got some money from that, and i also did a few jobs on the side to get some spare cash for materials.

Re: My take on Dr Doom mask.

I haven't posted in a LONG time.. i have some progress photos i think somewhere but i've been busy and haven't been posting, I did manage to get alot of work on the mask done though, changed it alot too, i think i got a real classic comic-book feel to it

Re: UPDATED Dr Doom Costume

The chainmail in between the bicep and forearm section is doom all the way! Awesome!

Re: UPDATED Dr Doom Costume

Thank you, the mask was a slow evolution.
I ended up shortening the chainmail cause there was too much binding for my arm to move. I got back into the swing of things with the arm but didnt really think to take alot of pictures while I was working. But i'll take pictures of the second arm in progress when i start it.
