-Naked TIE Fighter, a scratch and bash -Finished

Ive got this image of a TIE pilot on a heavy speeder in my head long ago. It stuck there and last week I felt like doing some scale model work, I decided to jump into my kit box and have a go. Making it up as I go, is the most fun way to do it.

I have made the blasters, and plan to mount the below the pilot.

Looking good so far. It would be interesting to see how it turns out though when I saw the title I thought your costume build was going in a 'different' direction.

Hey guys. Have a lot of things going on in real life, but finally had some time to complete the naked TIE fighter. Hopefully I will get more time this summer.

I based the design on the ROTJ speederbike mixed with a starfighter like the ETA-2. Its basically a speederbike with a single Ion engine. Paintjob idea is a TIE blue color with the beat up look of the ROTJ speederbikes. I tried to implement the messy paint of the ANH escape pod, a tricky paint job to get right, and I know I overdid the look.

Anyways, here are some pics:

Cheers!

otherwise know as the rocket sled :)

I like the paint you did, and din't think its too far overdone... maybe not exactly what you were going for but not bad at all...

one thing that bugs me a bit is the pilot is looking up instead of forward... If it were me I'd reposition the head of the pilot.

I think the paint job turned out well. My concern ( as far as if I was piloting the thing) is no wind screen or something in the front to keep small stuff from pelting me

I'm so glad to see this finished. I really like the design and the paint/weathering looks great. I love the underside details. It's funny, last week I was thinking of this build and wondering if it was ever finished. I was planning on searching for this thread in case I missed something and now here it is.

Cheers for feedback guys!

The pilot is just the Hasbro figure out of the box. If I decide to mod it, Ill change the head angle.

Windshield, yeah bugs would be a huge problem, but I wanted it to be in the same family as the speederbikes in the films.

Still bugs me that I owerdid the weathering. I love the messy escapepod paintjob from ANH, but I went to far. Live and learn. :) The bright light pick up the pastels making them stand out a little more in the pics then IRL.

Cheers
