Mythbusters is doing STAR WARS MYTHS ! HELL YES !!!

A few years ago Adam posted about adding a real holographic projector to his R2 but he didn't know what to do about the holo message as it isn't seen from start to finish in the movie.

But they filmed the whole thing from multiple angles, and LFL keeps EVERYTHING. If he could get hold of their archivist...

Or just use Sophia Bush, who I LOVE (I'm a huge One Tree Hill fan).

This just keeps getting better and better. From Adams twitter:

I too had almost begun to think this show was cancelled. I haven't seen anything new in like, forever! So glad it is back!!

Leia Byron! :p

Mythbusters + Star Wars = awesomeness! :cool

I guess you guys missed the Walk Dead and also the Breaking Bad specials ;)

Yeah, I did catch those--I forgot. But there were only a few new episodes this season weren't there? Sure didn't seem like a full season.

Either on twitter or FB I've seen 2 different pics of Adam and a life-size Taun-Taun made out of foam and fur.

I wonder if the myth is that you could shove a person inside with all those organs and bones?

I just dont get how they can do a mythbusters on fictional technology and... well... the Force? Anyone know how strong durasteel is or how to get some to test? Are there any Jedi that can show us how the Force works? Or how about the wiring in the door mechanism of a Death Star?

On stuff like this, the Mythbusters usually stick to the physics of the myth rather than the sci-fi/supernatural elements that may come into play. Ex: They tested a Hell-boy scene where he punches a car and it flips, and they only tested whether, under sufficient force, the car could actually flip in said manner. Idk if they'll stick to this kind of ideology, but honestly it's Mythbusters + Star Wars!!!

Anyway, always loved the Mythbusters and this new season has me way excited :D

Given that the force and durasteel have nothing to do with the tauntaun or the bridge swing I think it'll be fine. Maybe on the AT-ST myth durasteel would be an issue, but then again they're not rounding the ends of the logs so it's already not a fully accurate test ;)

I'm hoping that the bridge swing myth is--can you actually take a shoestring size cable, just wrap it twice around your hand and still hold on while swinging the weight of two people? I'm pretty sure it would almost cut your hand off at the palm, or at least crush your hand. Even if the cable was attached to the belt, I don't think it would work too well.

I understand the Taun-Taun is whether or not it would keep a person warm.

Couldn't remember where I'd seen it, but it was TV by the numbers:

Could Luke really have swung across a huge chasm on the end of a rope while holding Princess Leia and trying to escape Stormtroopers? Could Hans' ingenuity of stuffing Luke inside a Tauntaun have saved him from the bitterly cold and deadly elements of Hoth? And could the primitive weapons of the Ewoks realistically take down some of Darth Vader’s most sophisticated weapons?

If it was attached to his belt it might work, but Luke would really have to hold onto the cable and keep them both as upright as possible, and Leia would definitely have to support the majority of her own weight while holding onto Luke. Otherwise, considering how low he wore that belt, the fulcrum point where the cable attached to the belt would be lower than the bulk of their weight and they'd probably upend.

As far as Luke holding the cable with his bare hand, even as a 15-year-old watching the movie for the first time I knew that was nonsense. But it's fantasy, and you have to be willing to occasionally suspend disbelief or you'll never enjoy any movie of that type.
