Mystery Part Identification - SS Romulan Warbird

Can anyone identify this part located at the rear underside "tail" area - it doesn't seem to come with the kit? Failing that, does anyone have a clearer or more detailed photo of this area, in case I have to scratch the part?

Interesting; I don't see that on my refs for the filming miniature. Where'd you find that shot?

It was on a dvd that came with the kit, of warbird images, some from the Christies (?) auction of the miniature.

Looks scratchbuilt to me. Even if not, it could easily be replicated out of styrene stock.
