Hey all. This is both my first post and my first attempt at crafting anything with EVA foam. My build is nearly completed and I can tell you I have learned a lot of important lessons while constructing this! I've had some ups and downs and ultimately... I'm now safely addicted to the hobby! ( My wife is so proud! lol )

As most of us do, I love the Legend of Zelda. Probably one of my all time favorite series. So, when I found a black and white photo of this shield... I had to give it a shot!

For scale. This shield is 18" wide and 23" long.

IMG_0335.JPGIMG_0360.JPGIMG_0359.JPGBy the end I wasn't real happy with how I filled the gaps in the foam. I resorted to Shoe Goo but will be using some Quick Seal or the like next time.
IMG_0368.JPGIMG_0428.JPGIMG_0426.JPGI put the plasti-dip on WAYYYY to thick as you can see.. Used a palm sander to get it off and started over with many light coats.

IMG_0505.JPGIMG_0520.JPGCovering the Black plasti-dip with the red paint was a little hard. Next time ill coat it with a lighter color or use a lighter color plasti-dip. The red had to go on a bit thick.

IMG_0561.JPGI didn't like the shade of blue so i made it a little darker... What a pain

IMG_0651.JPGStill some silver to clean up but.. ill get to it.

Ultimately I'm pretty happy with the result and with the lessons learned. I plan to make a larger shield along with some Link inspired armor and Master Sword.

The back had not been touched nearly at all as I was using this one as a learning experience. Any and all tips are welcome! Thanks for the great community and hope to be around more often!

I think it looks Great.

Have you thought of the back ? How is the person going to hold it ?
