My TCW: ARC Pepakura Helmet building project.

Update Time...

Once removed the paper and pre-sanding the helmet, there are some places where need to fill itl.

The next step is to apply a layer of rondo outside the helmet.

Then, the helmet is sanded completely and get this result.

Update Time...

some time has passed since the last update, I've been working on the helmet and I've come a long way, unfortunately I could not take pictures of this stage of the project until today.

I have made several modifications to the lower front area of the helmet and on the cheeks. there were some lines that don't seemed to be fine. you can see in the cheek area was modified. make a comparison with the previous photo and you can see the changes.

More Pics, coming soon...

I thought this project was dead, But I was obviously wrong. This is coming along completely fantastic. All the lines are crisp and the whole helmet is incredibly smooth!!!!!!!!!!

GOOD JOB!

Update Time!!

How did the rangefinder?

Well, first thing I did was take the Pepakura file template and transferred to a 2 mm cardboard. then assembled the piece and add resin inside. Once dry, I put the piece in water to easily remove the cardboard.

After sanding and polishing the result was excellent.

greetings!!

Ed big Daddy Roth used this very same process when building his car body's. Its much faster and far more effective than building up your surface. Your final product is much closer to the original file size in the end. I'm really happy to see someone finally do it this way.. I always wondered why people waste time doing it the other way by building up layers.

thanks, Bowelrok. you're right. this method is better and the final result is a piece less heavy in comparison with the other method.

Just wondering, in the case of the dome for example, have you thought of putting the tabs on the outside to minimize the rondo layer at the end? Just seems like the process would work the same but with less finishing time spent on filling.

Absolutely LOVE it.. Cant wait to see it finished!!

Thanks, DeniedByFleury!!

yes, that's reasonable. course, it will be less work to do if you put the tabs on the outside. but in this case I put them inside. but either way is acceptable.

love your build and your technique, Ill be trying this out my self. Be ordering up some of your files soon yay.
