My TCW: ARC Pepakura Helmet building project.

Hi guys!

I want to share my project with you.

first. where I am, there are very few materials that I can work. My only option is fiberglass. so I decided to try the technique of Pepakura. I have only a few months modeling, but I think I achieved very good results, as you can see.

I would like to hear your opinions and advice for this project.

I started with 3D modeling. I tried to make it as accurate as possible. but thinking on the process of fiberglass and sanding. so there are details that are missing.

lThen, I transformed into a pep file.

Here are the first images you fully assembled helmet on paper.

well, this will be a long term process, and I intend to finish it. and I hope to get a good result.

in fact I have this model to sell and the RC from the animated serie. and I'm working on the model of ARF clone helmet, but I am a new member, I have prohibited sales for now.

Hi, guys! After several problems I've finally been able to continue this project.

at the moment I have only very little to show, but try to explain that I have done so far.

this is my technique:
I apply two coats of rondo inside of the helmet, once dry, I applied a layer of fiberglass. then when everything was hardened, I immersed the piece in water, this allows me to remove the paper more easily.

removing the paper, allows me to sand layers on Rondo and ensure that all forms are softer.

there is a few parts that need be fix it. nothing to worry about it.

the more large modification was on the bottom hole of the helmet, a mistake in the modeling process, but is easy to fix when helmet is hardened.

I'm interested in hearing why you've done it this way. Seems like more work than you need to do?

In fact, it helps, the traditional way only makes the pieces gain weight when the putty is applied on the paper. Also, sometimes when you do the sanding the paper can become a problem. I find more efficient this way though seems to carry a larger work. the end result is great.

Surely you need to make the model larger to account for the loss of material then?

Maybe try using the tabs the wrong way around. I mean, place them on the outside then you won't have the large tab marks to deal with. Just an idea

no, the model has a normal size. the layers on inside are not thick. the marks of the taps I will cover them with a final layer of rondo.

So after all this sanding, your covering it with filler anyway....

I know one thing...that fold and glue job in the beginning pics may be the cleanest pep beginning I have ever seen!
