My SS TIE Fighter

Thanks everybody!
star-art, agreed, trying to copy all the wonkyness of the original ship and getting parts to fit is definitely difficult.

So I was looking at reference picks over the weekend and realized I had missed a detail on the dash panels. Here's the corrected parts.

Love the commitment to a faithful replica here. The castings look excellent.

And the fact that you have reworked the model to new references is classic!

Looking good! Just remember that on the filming models those "wing" panels that go on either side are angled back quite a bit more than we see on most replicas.

Beauty(y) I see that the casting is convex; I never had much luck with those in the past. While the silicone mold is great, it's the pouring of the resin that poses a problem. Any tricks you could recommend?

Thank you!
Well my mold is a two part mold, so the shape isn't much of a problem. All my parts are cast in a preasure pot. Here's a picture of the mold and the part in the mold. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any other questions you might have.

Well...third times the charm. After a very generous donor offered better reference of the outboard dash panels I was able to rebuild them more accurately...again.
Thank you to the donor of the photos and to my friend who gave me the parts I didn't have.

Great news about those new and more accurate details (y) (y) I was going back and forth between your first panels and the latest one and you were close in terms of greeblies;)

I finally molded the body to my TIE Fighter. I don't really enjoy making matrix molds. My molds never come out as clean as I would like, especially when I compare them to the professional mold makers I work with. well at least they worked.
on with the pics...

And finally....I've actually started to build my TIE Fighter. Most of the parts in these pictures are just on temporarily.

Very impressive workflow. And great final result with the pattern, mold and castings.
Always love seeing how one tackles their patterns and molds for such things. Well done!
