My screen used hoodie is in danger!

I recently pulled some of my screen used clothing collection out of storage and came to a disturbing realization - an iron on decal that features prominently on one of the peices has started to flake away. Luckily, the damage is minimal at this time. But needless to say, I'd like to stop this process before it gets any worse.

Does anyone here have any advice on how I can save this item from degrading completely? It is a hoodie with iron-on text across the chest.

Thanks all,

Birch

Try going to a local museum. The one where I live has alot of textiles, etc. and apparently their conservation dept. does alot of work on preserving fabric, designs, paints, etc. A museum textile conservation specialist may have some tips. At minimum, my guess would be to eliminate fabric movement as it pulls on the decal from below. If it were me, I would maybe put a stiffener behind the decal under the fabric, mount in all flat in a frame and never touch it again. Also leave a gap between the decal and the glass/poly in front of it.

As of right now, I have it by itself in a storage container, out of sunlight. I'll eventually look into a proper display, but it's a matter if room right now. :(
