My Scott Pilgrim Costume!

scott.jpg

This is my very first show-off thread, but it's a lot lesser known the the usual costumes around here. It's Scott Pilgrim! He's the lead character in a series of comic books that's currently being adapted into a movie by Edgar Wright and starring Micheal Cera.

I wanted to actually resemble the character on the page and I started the mask about three months ago to be ready by SDCC 2009. I built up this helmet with cardboard, floral foam, Bondo and lots of spot putty.

All of the clothing had to be altered in some way, be it dyed or trimmed. The X-Men patch on my shoulder is a cheap screenprint I made until the embroidered patch I ordered from CustomPatches.net comes in.

Maggie from China made the awesome spandex bodysuit...that way I can take off the parka when it gets too hot.

If you want a good laugh, check out the Scott Pilgrim books...there are previews of each book at the official website ScottPilgrim.com.

I just wanna give my thanks to everyone at The RPF that assisted me in some way towards the completion of this costume. I always had a question, be it about Bondo, Helmet Padding, Cooling fans, Custom Patches...and I always found an answer on the board. See you guys in San Diego!

I have no idea what the hell Scott Pilgrim is, but I really dig that costume. Great design decisions, like with the flesh colored spandex. That extra mile really sells it.

Cool character design from what I see.

I'm not familiar with the character either but that body suit is a really nice touch. The helmet is amazing! Nice job. :thumbsup

Thanks guys! But anyone born between the years 1978 and 1998 will LOVE this book. It's about a Canadian slacker who plays bass in a ****ty band and who has to defeat the 7 Evil Ex-Boyfriends of the girl he loves if he wants to be with her. It combines the best elements of video games, manga, John Hughes teen movies, and Spin Magazine. It's a six-volume story and the final volume will be out in a year.

Like I said, check out ScottPilgrim.com to read previews from each of the five released books. I swear you'll enjoy it.

This gets major artistic Kudos. Great choices and great elements ! If I were a judge, I would definitely vote for you.

I really enjoy Scott Pilgrim comics, so high props for this. Now you just need a bunch of coins to carry around for after dispatching enemies. :lol :thumbsup

@Got Maul: Thanks, brother! I actually wanted in on the San Diego Comic Con Masquerade but I could only get tickets for Saturday. I think I'll rush the show uninvited...I'll blame you when I get arrested.

@Serentity: LOL! Actually, I should carry around no money at all...I think it fits better with the character.

That is so Freaking Cool!

Be on the lookout and prepared to do battle with evil ex-boyfriends though- they can pop out of nowhere!

Brilliant! Sorta creepy cool seeing that big cartoon head on a real body, but definitely spot on

@tibburon25: No Knives...but I got me a Ramona!

I convinced my girl to dress up for Comic Con this year. I DID put a couple of cooling fans in the top of her helmet though.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. But I admit it IS creepy looking. I put on the finished suit earlier today and had to walk down the street to get the mail...I got stares, waves, cars slowing down. The kids loved it, though.
