My Royal Guard costume thus far UPDATE 3/15/07

My helmet has been an ordeal but its finally done. At least I hope it is. I think I have to reglue part of the visor, again.

My force pike, based off of Kalkamel's design. I used an obi-wan replica sink knob and I cut the bottom off of the handgrip of the golf ball retriever, turned it upside down and placed the knob in it. Then I removed the black part of the golf ball retriever, and glued the whole thing and one size adjuster to the base. I cut off and dremeled out the cup part of it, and spraypainted a pen silver and placed a dowel inside it and slid the dowel into the tip of the retriever, and glued that. Using the retreiver is cool because you can adjust the size, make it smaller for storage then extend it for trooping.

That's a very cool and pretty simple construction for the force pike. Is the helmet a don post/rubies or is it from here on the RPF. I was looking for a Carnor Jax bucket but it looks like I'm going to have to find a Royal Guard and mod it. If you have a source for guard helmets on the RPF could you let me know.

Thanks everyone. Yes that is a Don Post, I bought one when they were new and didnt think of making a costume until I got a chance to hang out with the 501st and I knew I could finish a Royal guard faster then my TK and Vader. There are a few people on the RPF that sell awesome resized fiberglass helmets, if you make a post asking about it, you'll get to talk to them. I should say welcome to all of you too, I joined last summer and its been great here. I dont know what a glavie is. Im not going to do the armor underneath, Im going for a cross between AOTC and ROTJ. I have seen alot of awesome Carnor Jax and Kir Kanos tho.

A Glaive is basically a long handle with vibro blades on both ends, the melee version of the double bladed lightsaber. Favored by guards of the Crimson Empire.

I havent found any spikes that I like so far, so Im going with it the way that it is right now. Im trying to get it done because my local garrison will be in the st patricks day parade and I want to be a part of that, so the RG was the quickest costume I could complete instead of staring at my box of vader and my box of stormtrooper and thinking good lord how many more years is this gonna take. Im really digging that glave but I dont think Ill make one. Id love to see some guys with glaves at a convention.
