My Reach Spartan Armor WIP

I've always wondered what it looked like without the goggle things on the forehead. I was right about what I suspected - it looks better with no accessories.
I think you should make the goggles removable, so you'll have a finished helmet that isn't permanently accessorized.

hey thanks charlie, I was actually going to halt this armor when halo 4 came out and make a halo 4 suit instead, but at the end of the day I realized how much more I liked the Reach armors (AND the game itself for that matter). Halo 4 armor is cool and all, but the Reach armors just seem more realistic to me. I like the bulky look more than the slimmed down fitted look of H4 armors. Also, anyone can wear Reach armor and look legit, but you have to have a real athletic body type to pull off a Halo 4 suit...and I'm a big dude, so, that wasn't happening...lol...REMEMBER REACH!

Update! I got a few pieces worn and weathered today, my cell phone camera really doesn't do these justice, but they came out awesome...

also, priming the helmet...

thats all for now, I'll have the helmet painted tomorrow...

Just finished weathering the helmet...it looks amazing. Gonna let the dirty water dry while i go to work, then I'll post pics tonight...

BAM!

a little more detailing tomorrow and paint will be done, still have to put the triangle designs on the cheeks...
then heat forming the visor to actually fit as well (its not actually attached in the pics)

now, I'm not usually an OMG kind of guy, but........O...M...F@$%N...G...all modesty is now lost...lol...

oh, and i knocked these out today. the old one was pepakura, these are foam...took about 5 minutes to make both of them...i love foam...

Thanks! The size is majorly important in this build. For scaling I have been using the armory function in the game , trying to make it as close to that model as possible. A lot of Reach builds that I have seen, even though they may have been scaled properly to the builders own body, end up disproportional as a whole, legs too short, torso too big, helmet too big, etc. and that may be more comfortable for the wearer, but I want to really nail the visual factor. The suit (between the boots and helmet) actually adds about 8" to my height!!! This particular helmet is taller than most of the other buckets in the game, I haven't padded the interior yet, so i actually had to put a balled up pair of socks on top of my head to support it for the pictures!

Anyway, working on the cod tonight...

I completely agree dude !! see some suits that a really amazing but with just a bit of tweaking in the scale and stuff they could be so much better ! Making a spartan suit myself and one of the things i want to get right most of all is the sizing of everything ! working on the boots atm !! well so far you've nailed it bro i can only imagine with more progress its gonna be even better ! i cant wait!! :D Spartan posts on here are far and few between ! thank you sir :D

ok, one more...i am on fire today!
Printer went down again, so i was unable to start the cod. Started right thigh instead...

BRO! You must be so happy with how this is turning out. I cant wait to see this one finished. What are your plans for an undersuit?
