My Predator 2 Elder Mask Step by Step "in Brazil"

Hi... what I show here is a step-by-step starting from the plaster mold of my head to the construction of the dreads, all done here in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

To make the head mold I used “Alginato - protudo dental” which is also called “stone plaster” in Portuguese (in English I believe it is “Alginate”), and then I used clay to start the modelling.

When the modelling was completed, we took the plaster mold off, and the next step was cleansing the mold to eliminate every clay residue. I then set 10 layers of latex in each half of the mold, sealing it... it then goes into the oven (100ooC) until completely dry, around 1 to 2 days.

I then painted it with plastic paint (or just acrylic paint), and do retouching with nail varnish (especially on the mouth) and draw some veins with pen (permanent marker) and brush.

Next I powdered everything with talc so that the paint doesn’t stick to the hands/fingers and also to give it a “oldie-look”, and finally a layer of varnish to fix all the paint!!!!

The dreads were done out of Foam Latex tubes, cut in different sizes (hoses used in air-conditioning installation, bought in a rubber & foam store) and the trinkets used for decoration came from varied sources - some I sculpted with resin, others working from soft-drink metal caps or ready-made from different bijouterie/cheap-jewel stores (I even used a couple models of teeth which I got from a dentist friend and that were not yet set when I did these photos)!

I think these are the main steps. If any of you have tips or doubts, please feel free to contact me.

I live in Sao Paulo, Brazil, my name is Beto (short for Robert), my email is b100974@gmail.com , and I have a Flickr with a lot more photos at www.flickr.com/photos/betoartur

Thks, best !
