My new Star Trek XI Landing Party set

I may be misremebering, but didn't some information come out a while back that they based the props on measurements from the actual props? At any rate, the comm doesn't look too bad comapred wit hthe shot of Spock carrying one in the second trailer. (When he and his mother are trying t oescape Vulcan as it comes to pieces.)

You have some very serious photo skills, my friend. You could take a picture of a turd and it would look like art! :lol

No, the Tricorder is larger, but is still pretty small. I think the Communicator is too small compared to the pics of the original one floating around somewhere. I think the comm is my favorite though.

Here are some more pics:

Those photos look better than the toys look in person. :lol

The TNG-VOY tricorders all had "TRICORDER MARK (whatever)" labeled on them.

Yeah in very small letters on a label at the bottom of the open control flap. These say "TRICORDER" at the very top before you even open it. like it's a brand name or corporate logo or something. ("Transtator Inside"? :lol)

So are there any photos of the actual prop floating around? How accurate is this tricorder toy? Is it too thick?

The toy has a sticker where more lights and readouts should be... it would be cool to know if the toy can be modified with a backlit graphic or something.

The Communicator prop was displayed a few months ago

And there are phaser photos floating around.

Awesome display!

I agree with Phase Pistol, the photos make the toys look a lot better. :)

I picked up the new tricorder and phaser yesterday. I think they could have been great if made by Art Asylum.

Alas, as it is, the tricorder seems really thick to hold. At least on mine, the top part doesn't flip open when the button is pushed. And I would like to see the sticker replaced with a backlit or something.

I'll say it again; "those communicators are screamin' to be machined."

It would be nice if the communicator sound bites were something you actually hear coming out of one, not what you would say into one.

Who decides these thing anyway?

Well...You see....It was opposite day....Ssssssoooooo.....You know.

EDIT - Not for sure where to/who to ask....But does anyone have a link to the ST Classic Phaser thread? If there is one? I'd like to get one of the Diamond phasers, and I only want to buy one of them. :) (And I'd like it to be the most accurate handle for TOS. :lol )

Got my set.

THE PHASER MAKES REALLY STUPID NOISES, and the sound clips for the communicator are really clear and realistic...

and also don't make any sense at all: why would kirk be calling the enterprise and get your comm instead?

Thanks for the compliments on the pics guys! Funny comments! :D I don't post my turd pics anymore, too many complaints! HAHA

I agree on the communicator sounds. I was thinking about trying to figure out how to disable the voices and just have it blink when you push one of the buttons. I wish it cycled more sounds like the tricorder does...that is a cool feature.

That's what I was thinking on the communicator. How to keep the opening chirp, but get rid of the voices. The problem is that the whole circuit is connected to a reed switch, so when the lid opens, it is active. Try this, open the lid, place a magnet over the end and push a button...nada.

I may be able to figure it out as I am doing a "closer to a prop" mod on mine.

I have reason to believe that this might be the only two times we see the communicator used in the movie.........once by Kirk and once by Spock!
if this is the case no other sounds were available!:unsure

Well, they could have just put in...Oh, I don't know, MAYBE THE SHIP ANSWERING?!!??
