My New SPEAR OF DESTINY

After completing my first Spear of Destiny several years ago with limited information and photos of the original, I was never quite happy with the end results.

So, I started from scratch and remade this piece... over one year in the making and with lots of thanks to several folks who provided me with much better images of the original.

Here are the "before" and "after" comparison photos:

I'll try to post some larger photos later.

Kind regards,

Think you did very well and both accounts. Second one is a definite improvement and your attention to detail really shows. :thumbsup

Very cool piece!

I always loved that replica, and seeing your new one just makes me love it more.

Can't wait to see the big pics!

Chris

Thanks guys! Here is a shot in profile. You can see how thin the new replica is, the other one was too chunky:

Thats sweet. Besides an ark of the covenant, this is one of the props/historical replicas that I most want and love to see someone do justice to. I thought it looked good before but you really nailed it now.

That looks great! The SOD is something I'd love to have a replica of. You did a fantastic job on it. :thumbsup

Looks great. There was a special Discovery channel show on the spear and they showed the MRI dissection of the spear along with a quite in depth look at how the pieces all came together. Well worth taking a look at if you have any interest in this piece.

Nice to see the upgrade in tis replica. Hope to get one down the road myself.

And, by request, here are the unassembled parts:

As those "in the know" can tell, these parts are all made to match the originals even though many details are not seen once assembled (such as the bottom of the nail piece).

Other little details include a little silver piece sticking out from under the gold sleeve (a remnant of the original silver sleeve) as well as a leather tie just below this, also copied from the original.

Kind regards,
Magnoli

:lol I hope its not offensive to say these spear threads have been resurrected, on a Sunday even! ;) Cool prop though :cool

This is quite possibly the last spear of destiny I'll do. They take so much time to complete and are fairly expensive to produce. So, I spent a little extra time on this one and took some nice big photos of the finished product. This one is heading out to Protoss today...

Fantastic work, as always! I love the knotting! I'd never really paid attention to it before, but it's quite striking, the atention to detail...
