My new Slave Leia kit

Hello all!

I recently bought a new Slave Leia kit from Dragonfyre Designs. I completely love it! It is a fantastic kit overall.

There is one part of the kit that I am changing, and that is my front plate. My front plate was a little too flat for me so I am going to exchange it for a pre-curved plate.

Here is what the kit comes with:
-Bra frame and suede
-Front and back plates
-Hip loops and hooks (hooks connect them to the plates.)
-Collar
-12 link chain
-Snake armband
-Bracelet
-Boot toppers
-Hair bun clips
-Hair braid ornamental tie

Here is what the kit does NOT include:
-Skirts
-Bra straps and strap knot covers
-Boots (not to worry, most kits do not include the boots anyway.)
- Earrings (same as the boots, most kits do not include the earrings.)

The kit is painted with a beautiful golden paint job with some antique style weathering on it. It is absolutely beautiful, and it has made me so happy :)

So now I'll share some photos of the parts of the kit. Enjoy!

Front and Back plates, Hip Loops, and My Skirts

For my skirts, I chose a wine/burgundy colored knit fabric from Joann's. Then, I attached stick-on velcro to the inner side of my plates and I attached sew on velcro to my skirts to attach firmly to my plates.

As I said before, I have ordered a new front plate with a curve to it. I will add photos of it when it arrives :)

I love the width of my plates. They provide the perfect amount of coverage :) I love my hip loops because they are pre-curved to the curve of my hips.

Bra

The Bra has been a bit of a challenge so far, mainly because I had to find my own suitable elastic straps and make new knot covers. The bra would only stay securely on me with a slightly thicker elastic. This elastic was very rare to find and I actually had to dye it black (it came in white originally.) I want to do another dye job on the straps before I submit my new kit. I still own a pair of knot covers from the 3.0 Jamin kit, but unfortunately, they did not fit onto the straps that I had chosen. So I sculpted my own knot covers. Unfortunately, I do not have the paint that my kit was painted in right now, but I now know that the paint is Testors Model in gold. I am going to buy the paint and then paint my knot covers with that.

Here is a photo of the bra, lined with olive green suede:

Armband and Bracelet

I am very pleased with my armband and bracelet :) they actually fit perfectly to my arm and upper wrist measurements! :)

Collar and Chain

I was so happy to know that my new kit came with a chain. Not many Slave Leia kits come with chains. The chain comes with 12 chain links, the exact amount of chain links on Leia's chain when R2 cut her chain in the movie! ;)

I also like that the collar has a hinge in the back. It allows for an easier way to put on and take off the chain. There is a piece of elastic on the inner side of the chain where the hinge is placed.

Hair Bun Clips and Ornamental Braid tie

These are probably my favorite parts of the kit (even though I love each and every part.) The detail on these pieces are just immaculately beautiful :)

The bun I use for my hair is artificial.

Boots and Boot toppers

The boot toppers on this kit are absolutely beautiful. They have amazing detail. The best part about these boot toppers is that the claw parts are pre-curved so that they are easier to apply to the boot.

Earrings (not part of the Dragonfyre Designs kit, but I still wanted to show a photo of my earrings.)

Although my earrings are not part of the Dragonfyre Designs kit, they are still a very important part of my costume. My earrings were made by a fellow member of the Rebel Legion and 501st legion. She did a wonderful job making sure to include the accurate claws at the ends of the earrings and making them easy to put on and take off.

I've painted my earrings gold to match my kit, but I will need to give them a new paint job soon because they have since experienced some wear and tear damage.

Conclusion

The entire kit is absolutely wonderful. The hard work that went into making this costume was just phenomenal. Each piece has so much intricate detail that makes it a spectacle in and of itself.

When my new front plate comes, I will post some photos of it. Also, I am waiting on a brand new vibro axe! :)

Here are some photos of me wearing this kit. The vibro axe was borrowed from one of my good friends in the Mandalorian Mercs.

In the photo below, I was wearing the boot toppers from my old kit. I had not yet applied my boot toppers from my new kit because one of them broke and I had to wait for a new one to arrive.

That is a really nice looking costume. I like the detail and the colour and finish. I've never really seen all the parts of it up close, it's got so many bits to it! Looks great on you.. you look a bit like Carrie Fisher anyway. Nice job!
