hi Guys...

I had 1 of the Ops from the first MR "run" ... Now I have received another OPS and the White one...

Here you have some comparison pics...

I will make a deeper review later (tomorrow, cause It's too late here)... But some main this are these:

1.- Old OPS... not great paint work (but Good)... not uniform clear coat (but good)... but GREAT HELMET ...
2.- New OPS.. better paint work/clear coat... different shade of blue... slighty deeper visor
2.- White ... HUGE EDGE one the visor area... almost 1 cm... REALLY REALLY HUGE. the visor is far far deep in the helmet... ??? WHY ??? I really dont know... This doesnt happened in the first OPS or the NEW OPS... ... I aksed MRCUSTOMERSERVICE and the answer was:

I really like the helmet BUT the SIZE of the EDGE... that makes it a little strange... (I think they could sand it a little from the inside with the dremel or something to make it smaller.. ).. But what bothered me more was their answer to my email...... :(:(:(.

Well, let me know what do you all think ;).

Ben.

Thanks for the comparison picture. I have one of the white helmet and noticed that gap, too. I have plans of using the helmet for trooping, but my head is big and its a tight fit. That extra 1/2 centimeter would help. May have to do a lot of customizing to make the MR work out. Drilling out like you mentioned may be the best way to go.

I was really turned off by the piant of the first run special ops helmets. If I had seen the new paint job I might have ordered one.

Thanks for the review Benkenove - niceLY DONE WITH SOME GREAT PICS.

I bought all three MR "coloured" helmets and was overall very impressed with them. The blue on the original run was a little subdued but not enough imo to make a difference in my decision to keep mine (ironically the new plaque arrived in the post today).

So do you think the lens is placed different or is the helmet overall thicker? Have you checked the weight to see if theres any difference? Also - any other differences, inside maybe?

Cheers

Jez

Gut it. The padding will make it a furnace. Install some fans and microphone set-up.

Mine is hollow.

Hi Jez, thanks for your comments ;).

Well, I think you should KEEP the first OPS ;).

About your questions... NO... I think the "problem" is not the lens itself, or the placement... is just what you say, THE THICKNESS ... I'm not sure if the whole helmet has all this THICKNESS , but the main problem is the thickness of the edge of the visor area... Here you can see it very clearly:

GAP_WHITE_01.jpg

Is really HUGE, almost 1 cm ... and off course, that is not accurate at all.

About the weight, YES, this white helmet are way heavier than tha other OPS helmets (even heavier than the new OPS helmet). way way heavier ...

I have not weight them but I must say that the lighter one is the OLD OPS, then a little heavier the new ops (but slightly), and finally the white ones can be 1.5 times heavier if not more ...

About the inside, I think it's very similar, if not the same (I didnt take any pics of the inside, and I cannot take them right now, cause they are all boxed again... I have NO ROOM to put them, so they are sitting in their boxes :(. )

TO make a final "sentence" I must say this.

* Talking about the HELMET itself, and its contruction.. the very BEST HELMET is the old OPS helmet... it shape is perfect, the weight perfect, the inside room PERFECT ... (the only problem is that the paint is not that perfect, BUT GOOD, can live with it). The visor area is 100% perfect :D

* Talking about paint work, the new OPS is the best... nice paint work and uniform clearcoat... like it.

* and the white helmet... well, is the "worst" of them, talking about weight, thickness (less inside room for that same reason), it also smell a little bad :p.

No more, those are some of my thoughts... if you have any questions, please, let me know :D.

BTW, Just to finish this"tiny" review, I MUST SAY THAT I LOVE THE WORK THAT MASTER REPLICAS HAVE DONE WITH THESE HELMET (ok I know late late like hell), But these are really SCREEN ACCURATE helmets, good quality helmets, and I REALLY HOPE AND DESIRE they can still making more and more and more SW helmets. cause I want them ALL ...
