Thankyou yeah they do seem to be taking over the house slowly and no water in sight lmao:behave

Out of suplies now so cant start another one just yet boo hoo lol.:angry:cry:behave:facepalm

Not desided on the next one yet. I do want to make the spider gremlin at some point but being how large that will be I think i will save that for down the road at some point lol. I might do another gremlin from the first film to have a break from the sculpting and mold making for a bit as the bat took me over a month from start to finish. I just cant decide on what one mabe the bandit if i can find a balaclarver knitting pattern and a replica gum like hes got not sure were id get that though lol

    Gremlin regards
    Steve:)

    You're welcome.
I checked the internet and found this chick making a pattern who might sell or put up for free later on.
do stuff! » Remixed pattern #6: Freak Out!
But she is not finished with it yet. Maybe if you ask her nicely and show/tell her what you want and what it's for, she maybe is nice and makes a pattern for you.

OR you can keep on searching for it...it's called a Knitted 3 hole Ski Mask Balaclava

Thankyou for all the nice words and comments.

I was lucky as after many an internet serch and not being able to find any proper decent pics of the actual bat gremlin prop I managed to get intouch with a few of the people who made sculpted and painted the origanal one from the movie and one of them kindly sent me a folder full of some really good decent pictures of the origanal prop from the movie. So that really helped me in trying to get a good likeness. he is far from perfect and no way as good as the origanlal But im happy with him. :)

Wow! That is amazing. Are you using a base sculpt for this or did you create it all yourself? Would love to have something like that in my collection! Great job.

ICreated it all my self. I sculpted it from scratch and made a mold for all the parts then cast it in latex with sponge for filling and put it all together and painted it. So could make more if I wanted as Ive now got the molds but I dont think i will not unless i was offerd a very large amount of money for one lol making the one was enough lol:behave

This is an incredible piece of work...

Im really interested in how you made the mold and the cast.

did you sculpt it as one piece then cut it up to mold it? and did you them effectively make a latex skin from the mould? and if so how did you do that? was it by painting latex onto the mold in layers? and what paints did you use?

im sorry for all the questions, im a keen puppet maker and sculpter and im just starting to explore mold making and the use of plastics and latex etc, and im a total novice to it and how to paint it so i just wandered what your process was as your work is so good!

    thanks :)

Firstly thankyou everyone for the nice comments.:)

as for molding the bat gremlin it was made bit at a time. so sculpted the head then sculpted the body, then arms, legs wings etc all in separate pices but done so they would join together. Then I made two pice plaster molds of each bit.
I used latex to make the skins etc and when thick enough did another thin layer of latex and then cut the foam sponge to fit in each bit. then fixed it all together with wire inside to help pose and keep things in place.
As for painting its acrillics mixed with latex etc.

    Gremlin regards
    Steve ;-)
