My Latest Hellboy Prop - A Completely 3D Printed Samaritan

i don't know if the original is the same but the paper model i've used is the perfect size for 12 gauge shotgun shells which you can purchase in full brass and cut down i assume this is what was used on production

Here's a few more (crappy cell phone) pics with a bit of paint

and a bit of early aging:

Thanks again for the kind words

This is fantastic! I'm in the middle of doing the same thing with a similar revolver.

I'm surprised the grips and hammer turned out so well, being such organic shapes. It must be a pretty high-poly model.

Ya, it's pretty "heavy", but also very clean. We'll have the .STLs available soon on thingiverse

I've had a few people ask about me selling these as a kit. I've never done a kit before, could people inform me as to:

how they're usually sold / payed for?

how does one decide a fair price? My guess would be $150 with 4 "bullets" does that sound reasonable?

is it OK to ship a pretty realistic plastic gun across borders?

In the end, I'd be doing this as a fundraiser for my school, we'd put any profits towards buying more equiptment

THanks

This looks fantastic, great build I love the Hellboy guns

Kit sounds interesting, given how oversize the Samaritan is & the fact it's all plastic I don't see why you couldn't sell/ship internationally as a model kit/toy

I'd be interested :)

Sorry guys, been super busy with work, here's a few more recent pics. And for those who've PM'd me about a kit, I'm still thinking about it and tryihng to decide if I've got the time to manage such a thing, will let you know.

This is amazing how long did it take to print? I'm really thinking of getting a makerbot 2 and after reading this I think I will be lol great job.

If you have the desire but not the time, you could sell the model through Shapeways. They would take care of the shipping, money and printing for you and you would just have to answer questions and accept the money. They would also let people buy different price points of the model in different materials all for no work for you. True, they would take a chunk out of those profits but if the choice is them doing all the work or you losing a chance to earn some money for your school, it's a viable option.

that is fantastic! So you were actually able to PRINT the wood grain in the handle?! apparently the resolution on the makerbot is getting much better.

I'm with Koipond on this. Shapeways is a great alternative. I think $150 is reasonable (I've seen less for more, and more for less—depends on the seller).
