Some people here are accused of only hitting the off topic section, and/or the junkyard. Well I do the occasional prop project, Here's my latest 3,
with a quick Tutorial on the third one.
#1, Mals Firefly Pistol from a very nice Kit I got from Monsters In Motion for about $50.
I just followed the Instructions that came with it, drilled down the barrel for effect
and Am happy with the result.
Compared to one of the Stunt Props used
Next project was a Voyager Padd from a Kit sold here by an Ex-Member
I decided to make it look well used and scuffed considering all that Voyager went through.
,AND I decided to reverse it to make it for a left handed person. What? They don't deserve
Consideration in the 24th Century? I dremelled the top so I could interchange the Graphics
that came with it. For $12 and about an hours work I'm totally satisfied.
Finally finished my Holy Hand Grenade. It's not exactly like the Monty Python One, call it a poor mans version. But I like it.
Materials Needed -
1 Bottle Chambord Raspberry Liquer $18 - 25 depending on where you buy it.
1 Tube Amaco Rub n buff Antique gold paint (Comes in a 1/2 oz tube, at Michaels by where you'll find the gold Leafing) $3.99
1 Package 30 count 12mm Square Jewels, Clear (Mirror back) Joannes $3.99
1 Can Satin Finish Clear Coat. 96c
1 Small Screwdriver
1 Exacto knife
1 tube Crazy Glue GEL Wal-Mart 2 pack $2.99
1 old sock or buffing cloth.
On the bottle, Chambord, and the 375ml are in raised letters, with a split at the bottom. This is helpful, because you can put
this part at the back and use the split for centering the front, getting the center jewel perfectly centered. The Cap when screwed
on mine firmly was perfectly centered. If yours isn't, get it aligned and glue it. BTW, the cap on this sucker is METAL, so it's a cool addition.
Step 1, Buy a bottle of Chambord Raspberry Liquer.
Step 2. DRINK Raspberry liquer to empty the bottle (Boo Hoo).
Step 3. Remove Plastic Frame (Use a Small Screwdriver to Gently Pry on the backside, its like a Cable Tie
but not as strong), Clean labels off of The bottle, and cut out letters in the Frame with an exacto knife.
I Gently held each letter in between my thumb and index finger, and rocked the exacto knife at the contact points-watch those Fingers.
Step 4. Coat Bottle with Amaco Rub n buff Antique gold paint Coating evenly all the way around.
I used an old sock, a little goes a LONG way, as you rub it will evenly spread and dry. If you
get some spots where adding more just makes it streak, see step 8.
Step 5. Clear coat with Satin Finish Clear coat spray Paint
Step 6. Replace Plastic Framework, and Crazy glue in place.
Step 7. Use 12mm Clear square Jewels and Glue in the framework using Crazy Glue Gel, just a
dab in the middleof each jewel, Work from Right then left, then right then left for even spacing.
Step 8. Use additional paint, gently rubbing in to clean up any scuffs etc.
the clear coat will allow it to adhere evenly, I used a Q-tip and kleenex to finish.
Step 9. Enjoy your finished Product.
