I had planned on waiting a couple weeks to post this as it will be a while before I have anything to show, but I told IronWarrior777 over in another thread that I would go ahead and start one. Some friends and I are hoping to put together a group of the various lantern corps for Ohayocon 2012 (Late January) and I have always wanted to do Kilowog, so I think it's time to give it a shot.
My Kilowog design will be original, but much closer to the comics then the movie. I am going to go with a more armor style suit like seen in the animated Green Lantern movie. Since I will have hopefully dropped a few pounds by then, I am saving pepakuraing the armor part for last. I am starting with the mask first.
I am wanting to build my mask much like Deck Star's Ninja Turtle suit, working mouth. I have crudely designed the inside of the mask as can be seen here. I am considering using pink foam from the hardware store over it and carving it into shape. After that I would cover it with some liquid Latex and paint it.
My biggest concern is how I am going to see out of the mask. I have bought some acrylic eyes for the mask, along with a micro servo and controller board. I was going to mount the fake eyes right above my real ones, but that leaves me no way to see. I don't have the luxury of a bandanna to hide eye holes under like with a turtle...
Anyway, comments and ideas are welcome.
