My Kilowog WIP - V1 Done -Pictures Post #9

I had planned on waiting a couple weeks to post this as it will be a while before I have anything to show, but I told IronWarrior777 over in another thread that I would go ahead and start one. Some friends and I are hoping to put together a group of the various lantern corps for Ohayocon 2012 (Late January) and I have always wanted to do Kilowog, so I think it's time to give it a shot.

My Kilowog design will be original, but much closer to the comics then the movie. I am going to go with a more armor style suit like seen in the animated Green Lantern movie. Since I will have hopefully dropped a few pounds by then, I am saving pepakuraing the armor part for last. I am starting with the mask first.

I am wanting to build my mask much like Deck Star's Ninja Turtle suit, working mouth. I have crudely designed the inside of the mask as can be seen here. I am considering using pink foam from the hardware store over it and carving it into shape. After that I would cover it with some liquid Latex and paint it.

My biggest concern is how I am going to see out of the mask. I have bought some acrylic eyes for the mask, along with a micro servo and controller board. I was going to mount the fake eyes right above my real ones, but that leaves me no way to see. I don't have the luxury of a bandanna to hide eye holes under like with a turtle...

Anyway, comments and ideas are welcome.

Finally some progress! The inner armature is almost done. I still have to clean up the sharp edges and make a few tweaks to the shape, but I think it will work. I am a little worried about the proportions at this point. I may need to find someone a little more artistic then me to help figure this out.

In an effort to forget that the GL movie ever happened, I put a little more work into my Kilowog Costume.

It is going to be hard to tell in this picture, but I cleaned up all the rough edges and squared up all the important bits of the armature.

I used a 50% off cupon at Joann Fabric to get some Super Sculpey. Next up: Teeth.

Ever have one of those "WTF am I doing?" moments? Neither do I.

So I slacked off updating this thread pretty bad. I did finish the costume in time for Ohayocon 2012, minus a few features. I also recently took it to the Wizard World Mid Ohio Comic Con, virtually unchanged. Unfortunately I still don't have any great pictures, but this one should get the point across:

A full album can be found here: Kilowog V1 - Imgur

I plan to keep updating it slowly. Next up I am going to rework the head so I can see out the mouth, and create a fake set of shoulders/neck/chest. If anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to hear them.
