I'm a newbie here so I hope I'm putting this in the right area, anyway...
I've always wanted to own movie props and what-not, but cash has always been a huge problem so I started making my own , then I had kids and for halloween I started making costumes and make-ups. I have no real skills and hope to learn from all the great people here at the RPF. I just wanted to post some of my attempts at things thru the years with hopes to get some crits from you , thanks in advanced and I hope these pics are not too large JS

First up is my Zydrate Gun from Repo the genetic opera

Half arsed my *! I think you've done very well with the items you have. Personally, I see nothing wrong here. As long as people appreciate what you have made, and you enjoy it, it's all good.

I don't see why you say these are lame attempts. Like anyone else -either here or any place- the more you do, the better you get.

Keep at it! If there's something that stumps you, this is the place to research what others have done or ask questions. (y)thumbsup

sort of, when I was watching the movie for the umteenth time I kept thinking I've seen that zydrate gun before, turns out it's a paint sprayer with a few greeblies from a blow torch and a leather wrapped handle Believe or not I found the "how to" here at the RPF

Mate I looked at the thread mainly because your title annoyed me. Then you annoyed me even more by saying your work was half arsed. First of all it is not half arsed at all, and secondly you are making props, there are major kudos for scratch building props in the first place.

So cut it out, show your props proudly because they are original and well done. Welcome aboard too!

I think all of those look really awesome! You definitely have skill
I really like your son's Legend of Zelda shield and your Zydrate gun. I have considered getting a Graverobber costume together, and if I do, I will definitely need to come up with a zydrate gun of some sort
    Very nicely done!

o.k I have not seen many of these, but I thought it was kind of cool. It's the electromagnet that Tony Stark received in the cave to help keep the shrapnel out of his heart. The project started out fairly well but then my multiple sclerosis kicked in and I started getting real bad tremors so things went kinda wacky for a bit, then I dropped it the * thing on the floor so I am starting a new one as soon as my hands stop shaking, could be a day, could be a year who knows. Anyway here it is.. In this "reality" S.H.E.I.L.D. returned to the original cave to retrieve any tech that Tony may have left behind. One of the things they found was this highly damaged electromagnet that was made for him...[IMG]

Been a great while since I've been back. Trying my hand at some Iron Man Arc Reactor props. Kit bashing from DimIdeas kit , some plumbing bits and pieces and what not. It didn't quite turn out how I wanted but over all the effect is cool.

    PIC HEAVY Set coming up

Have you ever seen something online and thought, "I can make that", then a year or so later you start building it but can't find the picture that gave you the idea? Well that's what I'm doing now. I am building a box for all my Doctor Who gadgets.... Pics will be posted in the next few days............

Re: my lame tries at props

So here is my progress on my Sonic Box, I am still waiting on some brass trim pieces and latches , the foam will be here in a couple of weeks. Like I said I saw it online but couldn't find an image when I decided to build it so it's not exactly what I wanted.... remember WIP!!! I'm also including my Lightsaber project I just finished, It was a broken hilt, it's now working with a removable blade..
