Hi guys, it's my first posting here. I've seen how friendly this community is and you guys help each other. This is something rare in many forums (because most of them are filled with haters/spammers). Hence I decided to register. Glad to be able to join this community. :rolleyes

Just thought I'd like to share a prop I have from Star Wars. This was not featured in the film, but was used during pre-production. Got this direct from Elstree Studio. This is my Holy Grail and the very first item of my collection.

Will I be getting more Star Wars screen-used props in future? Hard to say. Maybe when I get more cash first :love

How about you guys? What started your collection and what is your current Holy Grail in your collection?

I can't view the link you posted?
If you put you pics on Photobucket or some thing similar then you can link the pic to the thread.

I hope this works, sorry about the previous post :)

Why sully a good nice piece of Star Wars artwork by hanging "A New Hope" on it.

Reframe that sucker with the proper respect it deserves.

Also, not really a prop, production art, not the same thing.

As much as I hate to admit it, Mic is right. Not a prop. Certainly not screen used.

Please read this KitKat!

You have an awesome piece there but please please please be very careful where & how you display this, the dyeline paper is light sensitive. I (HAD) over 6 very rare Dyelines on display at home in good quality UV glass protected frames. Note the use of HAD!

I lost the lot to sunlight, Tie fighter front & back view, Falcon underside schematic, Tie Bomber, Dome Droid from ANH & a Y wing, all have nearly vanished for ever, some have completely gone with no trace. I really have lost a few £K's in production art.

I'n not trying to put you off but do be careful that its out of direct sunlight & in a darkish room, a good quality UV glass is a must also.

My problem was they where all on display in our conservatory at home, the whole room is made of glass so its the brightest place in the house, with all the blinds shut (most of the time). As I work away a lot I just didn't notice the slow fading & eventually after about 2.5 years of being displayed they'd gone. I did have my Y wing in a different room & it had a lot less fading it was out of direct sunlight but still faded by about 30%.

Even worse than this I have 3 original Pen, Ink & Pencil storyboards from Empire, 3 very distinct scene's. Al the black pen in the art has faded to a red colour, Not as severe as a vanishing act but it has totally destroyed the look of em. I have a good friend who is a fine artist, I'm considering having him go over the pen lines in the art but dont know wether this is worse than having them a red colour??????

I would rather it was all stolen, at least I could claim on the insurance.

Nether the less, you have a great piece of SW history there & I hope you can enjoy it for a long long time to come.

Guy

I back up Guy's comments. UV glass is essential and even then do not display in direct sunlight or overtly warm tempreatures. The one you have came from Elstree where they all suffered water damage as well. Check with the seller what sort of glass it is. My UV glass cost around 60.00GBP for enough to cover a drawing.

Guy please tell me that you still have the pencil gunport falcon drawing and that's not gone !!!

Still got it, the paper has changed colour, slightly gone Darker I think, but its still got pride of place in the living room, about 2 feet from me as I type this :)

Guy you obviously can't be trusted with such important artifacts. Send me all your models immediately.

Ha! Now I'm counting on the sun fading these & I'll never dust em so hopefully in around 30 years they'll also look like carpets for mice like the ILM models. Your spot on when it comes to production art though I really cant be trusted & was a complete muppet for letting it get as bad as it did.

To save time, pull out a blank piece of paper from a draw at home, throw a few drops of tea or coffee at it & thats what some of my dylines look like :lol:lol:lol

Well at least I can smile about it :cry
