My first Iron Man Mark VI build

Whoop, posted this first in a wrong part of the forums. Way to introduce myself as a n00b....

Hey guys,

I have been cought by the replica build virus, thus starting an Iron Man Mark VI build. This is my first time ever creating something like this, no experience whatsoever, so I am really curious on how this all will turn out...

Anyway, I need your help on some tips and guidelines. I started a testing face, deciding on how big some parts had to be. I think I finally got the right scale, so building the torso part to begin with (I need to build a bigger helmet, but that has to wait for now)

My main question for now is...

The abs/waist part are all loose parts. What is the best way to connect the parts, so it will be easy to put on? I am building the parts out of cardstock.

I hope some of you veteran builders can help me with this. I want to shine at the next fantasy meeting haha

How far along in the process are you? I'm just making the cardboard stuff right now, will resin it later, although I already have the resin I need.

Its kind of hard to find the right stuff here in The Netherlands. I got the resin and fibreglass from a local boat parts shop. I do hope I have gotten the right kind of bondo/primer though

Wow, its nice to see a lot of people reacting to OTHER posts, and not even commenting here.... I know there are a lot of veteran builders out there who could give me some advice on the abs part. Come on guys....

most people use plastic buckles ballistic nylon and hot glue, they sell packs of like 100 on ebay...

But also for the small abs part? I mean, the abs are all lose parts. I actually do have enough buckles for all parts. One of the main advantages of working in a retail store, selling phones and getting promotional keychains

Its really a shame that hardly anyone seems willing to help to explain how they worked on their cardstock abs part....

Its an even bigger shame that you cant take the time to read through other build threads and figure it out on your own without feeling like you're entitled to the knowledge with zero work on your part.

Just saying......coming in here with that kind of attitude isnt going to get you very far or make many friends.

You need to use the search function. Reading through the threads I've seen multiple builders explain exactly how they built their abs. People don't want to repost the same thing over and over again.

I have read multiple parts of the forum, used the search funtion and have found only one method. I have tried my best, ah well, I will see how it all turns out to be...

My folding and glueing is nearly to an end. Yet it seems that some parts are just way too big. This while I used the same scale. It's funny, the cod piece finally fits and now everything else is too big. I did not think my butt whas that big hahaha

You would get lots more help if you showed some progress photos. Not to be mean but it does get annoying when theres so many tutorials out there to help but yet so many threads still asking for help, i see the next step noobs just askin for someone to build it for them cuz its to hard lol best advice I can give ya is do more research about pepakura designer on like measuring from point to point. Dont put everything same scale unless u have perfect body porportions. Next time post your work then we can help ya by givin constructive critism til then yr not gonna get the help your expecting. good luck on your build
