Hey guys. I started making foam armour 3 days ago. Started with simple magneto helmet then onto a spartan helm.

Today i put together a Iron Man Mk4.

Im pretty happy for my first try however sooo much went wrong haha.

This was 10mm foam. Might try smaller next time.

Looks good. 10 mm can be pretty hard to make a helmet with. Personally I'd recommend nearer 6 mm but you've got a good result all the same.

For 3 days worth of building I wouldn't argue with that level of result at all. You're always learning and whatever you make next you can put that experience into.

Tried my hand at painting. Looks pretty awful. 5 coats of PVA water mix. Then rattle cans from locale auto store.

Looks alright for a first build. With every part you make, there'll be different techniques. I usually have to make a single part 2-3 times before I'm happy with it. You can also experiment with different ways to fill cracks and seems, so eventually you have a part you're really proud of. The recommendation for thinner foam is more important on a helmet than other parts, but you can still have great results with the thicker foam, just trickier to do.

Keep it up and don't be afraid to redo parts prior to doing the finishing work if you're not satisfied. Good luck!

Thanks mate appreciate it. This all started because I wanted a few pieces for a shelf in my games room. This helmet looks ok on a shelf....from a distance. Cant stop printing off patterns though. Its like an obsession
