My First Iron Man Armor

Hello everyone,

I am working on an Iron Man armor for 2 months. It is Mark 6 but I changed its chest part. I don't like triangle one. I made this from cardboard.

I want to to hear your opinions, how does it look?

And I have a question : How can I reduce the gap between legs and upper body part? Is it normal to have a gap between there ?

I think you did a great job with your build :thumbsup The MRK 4 and 6 are the same armor aside from the chest plate. I like the circular chest hole too, apparently so does Joss Whedon as he went back to the circle over the triangle on the MRK 7 in avengers saying the circle has meaning and the triangle does not. Now comes the fun strengthening/detail stage, just take it one piece at a time.

Thank you for your comment! Original Iron Man from comics also has circle chest piece, am I right?
I tried to strength it with more cardboard but it didn't make it stronger as I imagined. Do you have any suggestions?

You still need to make some hip pods for the sides, and some filler pieces. For the pods, just search these forums, and you should find the file. For the other gap filling pieces, do a google image search for "Iron Man MK 6" and you should be able to figure out what you need.

Very nice build.

You need to fiberglass it for best results. First step is to coat the outside of each piece with fiberglass resin so it will keep its shape when you harden the inside with resin and fiberglass cloth. Do a few light coats of resin on the outside of each piece(don't forget to mix in the hardener) once that has cured apply fiberglass resin and the fiberglass cloth to the inside of each piece to really strengthen it. I would test out using this method on some scrap pieces of cardboard first, so you get a feel on how to work with it before attempting it on your suit. There are lots of tutorials online on how to work with fiberglass.
