Greetings RPF!
Ok, so this will be my first ever prop build. I am going for a generic DL-44 blaster build in the ESB style for my Jedi Sentinel kit. I have purchased cast resin piston greeblies, and a scope mount via eBay from an independent prop builder (a resin ESB style scope will be following in the next couple weeks). Now for the meat of the subject. The "blaster" donor gun. After doing several searches and originally purchasing a 3/4 size replica, I found an aluminum bodied UK Arms 1:1 C96 M712 variant Mauser airsoft gun. Any pointers towards similar builds would be appreciated. My first order of business is to wait for all my parts to arrive. In the meantime I would love to hear any advice going forward with this build. (Yes I know all about the MGC (sp?) and Denix props but they are out of my budget...so maybe when I need something more accurate and have more experience I will tackle a Denix screen accurate build) When the parts come in I plan to sand the resin smooth and do a light silver finish followed by a matte black paint coating and a matte clearcoat to finish. Next I want to sand down the blaster shell, then blue the metal and polish it up nice. If this is indeed a 1:1 replica I have my eye on a pair of original 1896 Mauser wooden grips. Please help me realize the full potential of this build. Thanks all, hope to hear from you soon!
