My First Boba Fett Helmet w.i.p

Hi!
I have recently found this incredible site and I can't stop reading the threads.

I started work on this project earlier this year using the Wizard Of flight templates found on TheDentedHelmet forums.

I nearly screwed it up when I used the wrong undercoat in a real schoolboy error, but I managed to save it.

It's not movie accurate, and I still need to add the little arrows and the nipple on the cheekplate (and the slit on the other cheek)
The Range Finder stalk and also rear grille still need finishing but I have to say I love working on this type of stuff, I have all my life, but I am so glad to find a bunch of like minded people on here.

Please excuse my decor, it's a rented place. :D

Off to a great start! Try to find some photos of the original ESB or ROTJ on TDH and most notably study the shape of the domecap and the T-shaped cutout. Try to factor in the little asymmetries you see.

Congratulations! You're on your way to what looks like is going to be a superb helmet!

Hey there CSMaclaren!

I managed to get some photos for reference, mainly a mixture of movie and also repro props, and got to work as soon as I could. The more I learned the more I thought wow, this is a serious job to make it look good. I am just over the moon to get it to this stage for now, as a beginner :D
I would love to have another go again at some point in the future using what i have learned since I started.

Thanks for the warm welcome though, I was a bit nervous about posting on this forum.

Excellent work, Evarcha! For a "beginner," you've certainly got the technique down. :) Looking forward to seeing future progress!

Thankyou so much!
I spent a while just trying to work out how I would even start to make it. I have seen some incredible examples of work i would love myself, the Daft Punk helmet build i saw was particularly inspiring, and it helped me get over my block on this project.

As an artist I just can't wait to start to paint it up but understand the need to take my time....

Looking absolutely....outstanding. Looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks! :)
I am glad my first build is looking ok. I learned a lot from this, I would like my own custom mando helmet one day.
Hopefully I won't screw this up when painting it.

It looks good bruv, as a member of the TDH myself and I have seen and 'made' worse... :wacko
Depending on what you are aiming for, the overall shape looks good, the dome may need a little tweak, the dent slight mods... but if a 'custom' mando your after then it's pretty much a blank canvas. :thumbsup

Haha! yes, I believe I am friends with you on there also?

I will be posting more shots soon, I know my Fett helmet isn't screen perfect (which is part of my shame for not updating my TDH account) despite my best efforts. It's all a learning process. I will soldier on through this and get it finito.

I know that when I started out on this project I had 2 options, but some **** off ebay for wayyyy too much money (soft plastic, looks crap), or buy a kit that would cost me more than I had to spare.

I think that when I get to paint this up I will be happy with the results...until I get the need to make it better!

...and here's me thinking I would be anonymous on here! Hope you're well Mojo! :eek
