My Firefly birthday present........Jayne's orange hat

Ignore the fat guy wearing it. He's, um.........overpaid.

I originally asked my mother to make this for me, since that would be perfect, plus she actually WORKS for the Post Office, so that's just cool all around (for those who don't know, Jayne Cobb received this hat in a package at the PO, from his mother). But her neighbor is better at knitting, so she asked her (to my horror- I wouldn't have asked, and she didn't know details).

It's a little heavy in the tie area, but that's fixable. The earflap shape is off, slightly, but I can live with it. Colors look dead on to me. Bathroom fluorescent light is washing it out.

If anyone is interested in a hat like this to keep them warm, she really needs the money (though she wouldn't take any for mine). She and her husband have big time bill problems. LMK. I'll even ask her to fix the earflap shape, and go easy on the ear-ties.

I'm wearing it right now. I think it's cool as hell. :lol Well, warm, actually. You know what I mean.

For those who have asked, she's asking $20 each, so it'll be $24 shipped for a made-to-order hat (since I'll be handling the PP and shipping). I just need to get your head/hat size. If you have a tape measure, that would be easiest.

Hey, it's a new record. it took this firefly relate thread FIVE POSTS before someone referred to the prop in question as "Shiny". Good work...

Kidding aside, that is actually pretty good. Makes you look ten pounds thinner... Awesome stuff. The back story to it helps sell it too.

It's hard to capture it, but I think these show the colors pretty well. It's hard to recreate the show's "tint" above.

It's hard to tell. I was afraid it would make my head feel hot, but it's pretty comfortable, and you forget the ear flaps are there. I guess if I tied them under my chin, they would.


Ed Norton, huh? I didn't like that movie much, so I tried to forget it.

Wow, two more interested? I'll go ahead and warn her.LOL She says she'll do them, so it's a go. Looks like 5 so far- I don't want to hit her with more until she does these first. Pending payments. She banged mine out before I knew it, but I don't want to overwhelm her (which is why I've been avoiding the junkyard).
