My finished Grail Diary

What a beast! Everything was hand drawn/written. No photocopying, tracing, nothing...just good ol' freehand. It really helps that I'm an artist and that I've done personal journals like this before...but nothing as big and complex as this. Chris (dbcooper at COW) provided all the truly amazing inserts. I wasn't going for screen accuracy so much as I wanted it to look like a real diary. I also don't have it quite so crammed with stuff as the first pic would indicate. I've included some pics of the pages that are maybe a bit more unusual, and a few of the usual pages you normally see. Had a great time making this and I'm really happy with the results. Hope you guys enjoy!

Yea, it's not quite so stuffed now. This project took me about a month to finish. With two very young boys in the house, spare time doesn't come easy. But I'm happy with it and it really was a fun, challenging project.

That is an incredible job!

I've been handwriting my grail diary for almost 2 years now and I'm about 1/10th of the way done :cry. I can't draw worth a damn so I've been using the carbon paper trick - nothing like drawing every picture twice.

As an artist this was a fun challenge...not just to copy the pictures we're all used to seeing, but to create some new ones, or at least in ways not done before. As I think about it, I may make another one this summer to sell.

Gigatron, just keep at it. In the end you'll be glad you took your time and did it right.

Beyond excellent work, vaderbreath! I'm always a sucker for a good Grail Diary, and one that is hand-drawn like this is kind of the grail of grails. (pardon the pun :lol )

If you don't mind me asking, what blank diary did you use? Did you make that yourself as well?
