My fallout universe props: new items 9-23-2011

Re: My fallout universe props

If you want bottle caps already made go to www.craftycaps.com/shop
They have a lot of Fallout varieties. It's where a lot of the ebay ones come from I think, they will make you any design you want and they are cheap.

I can't even gather them for that price and what's nice is that the different colored caps work for the various cola varieties.

Re: My fallout universe props

I thought that olive was real when I opened the thread, haha.

I'm loving those iguana bits on a stick... I agree the paint job might need a little fiddling with, but the actual forms are looking spot-on! :D

Re: My fallout universe props

I'm actually going to repaint the bits when my airbrush is up and running i think. I need more paints too. I have to paint the center of the olive. I have it sitting in a plastic glass on my display shelf. i need to spread it out more but i'm using the promo drink coasters they put out for New vegas to set the glasses on. I have to find my real martini glass.

Re: My fallout universe props

Are you going to use the tabs as bills too? I always wondered why they didn't use the tabs in New Vegas. It would be easier for the high rollers to carry a wad of tabs in the back pocket of their suit instead of a bunch of caps. Not to mention a lot more comfortable :p

Other cool things to include in the display could be a pack of cigarettes and mentats.

Re: My fallout universe props

Yeah, it's a great deal, just type in Nuka and you'll see the variety of designs they have. The also have Sunset Sarsaparilla versions.

Re: My fallout universe props

that'll work as we don't drink enough sodas with caps to do much good lol. Funny thing is on ebay you can find soda pull tabs in giant bags cheap. I have no idea why as they can't be much use for anything unless you melt them and make your own items from them. Easier then me going out into the barn and digging through the bags to be recycled and worrying about what critters might be in them lol.

Re: My fallout universe props

i love the kebob!
i should try to get a hold of one of those for an amusing picture some time

Re: My fallout universe props

I can't believe this thread is getting so much attention suddenly lol. Now i need to get my butt in gear to work on stuff. I still have paper props to print but i always seem nearly out of ink. Now that i have mannequin heads/torsos i can do a few ghouls and whatnot. Might try a small scale super mutant not sure yet. Need to finish a few things first.

Re: My fallout universe props

I was looking at the pack of smokes. I'd make the nuke themed to match everything else. I have a long list of stuff to make, just slowly plugging away at it. Most of them are printer ink intensive and mine eats ink like mad lol. I'm displaying this stuff with all my copies of the various fallout games and the manuals. Above that on a shelf will be my display of civili defense items.

Re: My fallout universe props

Just a short update. I have tins for the BB project, they're not perfect but you wouldn't believe how hard it is to find tins around and whose to say they didn't sell jumbo tins. I have decal paper too. I'm also going to use the tins for other items in the universe like holding dice from vault 22 which could even have been something she sold at the gift shop. i have a few toy grenades but need to rework them. now i have to just find the right spray sealant for teh decal paper.

Re: My fallout universe props

First up from Fallout 2 is a container of Biomed gel with General Clifton's eyeball.
Bio med gel - The Vault, the Fallout wiki - Fallout: New Vegas and more
Clifton's eye - The Vault, the Fallout wiki - Fallout: New Vegas and more
The clear gel is actually a container of one half of a 2 part silicone meant for making masks but isn't' enough to do much with. Hopefully it doesn't melt the eyeball. The eyeball is sculpty with a printed out iris and retina on it and a piece of headphone wire for the nerve. The labels are just normal printer paper aged in tea and coffee with the label being a modified one i found online. The eye isn't as big as it seems as the gel magnifies it, it is a 24mm ball just like a real eye.

Next is a tin of bobby pins. The label is taken out of the game. The in game tin is smaller and looks different but I think this one looks just as good and could have been made by someone later one.

Next is a jar of Nightstalker blood
Nightstalker blood - The Vault, the Fallout wiki - Fallout: New Vegas and more
It's made of the other half of the silicone and is to represent older blood. I made the label to fit in with the Old World Blues DLC and as such added the ruined DNA archive as the location. I'm not sure if i got the scientific name of the critters right as it isn't mention. I just combine Coyote and pit viper scientific names. Works for me lol. I aged the label the same way as the biogel and used the same label setup.

Coming soon are my nuka bottles and the BB tin. I also have to cut out and photo my fallout cash.

Looking great! The only thing about the silicone is it will eventually harden after exposure to the air. But that just means you won't have to worry about any liquid drying up in the container.

The bobby pins are my favorite though. Now that I've grown my hair out, my gf will probably get me to start using stuff like that. If so, I now know who to ask about getting a manly case for them.:lol

Re: My fallout universe props: new items 8-8-11

I wish the silicone wasn't so expensive or i'd find a way to tint it and fill the nuka bottles with it. I actually got the bobby pin tin off ebay but the round ones for the bbs i got at the craft shop. it came in a pack of 6. They're a bit bigger than in the game but i figured the company might have made bigger containers, i had to make that label from scratch so it isn't as nice.

Re: My fallout universe props: new items 8-8-11

I book marked that page. too bad it would take so much silicone caulking to fill a bottle as that would be a cheap way to do it.

My first, and far from perfect, try at NCR cash. i made a handful of them and when i was weathering some Dead Space 2 documents with blood splatter i used it on a few of each bill. Turned out okay, not as good as the DS2 stuff which has some nice runs on the pages but the paper i used for these sucked up a lot of the paint and ink. I want to try more but they're an ink eater.

I think the paper worked pretty good, it's got a nice money like texture. I might have to see if walmart has more but it was pricey for a pack that only had like 4 sheets of this type.

Nice money, and nice map.

How big is that map?

Office stores and arts & crafts stores also carry fancy paper. Might be worth a shot.

True, i can get a 10% discount on paper thanks to my folks though lol. The map's roughly 6"x7" i think at least that's the measurements of the green cutting mat it's on. I forgot to crop it in paint before printing so it had that white border around it. should be easy enough to blow up to 8x11. I have one of vault 15 to go. just need to make some coffee to soak the paper in.
