My Evil Dead chainsaw wip, lots of pics

There is a second thread going about the chainsaw, but nothing so far about building one.
So I figured I would start a second thread.
If this is bad, mods feel free to merge this into the other thread.
So far this has not been a really tough project, other than trying to source out the hand clamp.
Homelite Xls seem to be quite plentiful on ebay, and the rest is just made up.
For the hand clamp, use what is called a t bolt clamp. or a muffler clamp.
There are hundreds of them available.
The saw, although really dirty and oily inside, is fairly easy to take apart.
I had use of a good workshop, so I was able to cut the engine housing in half and keep a bit of the detail behind the saw blade.
I'm not sure what others do with locations where there used to be part of the motor exposed.
I used a Homelite super 2, at least I think thats what it is called.
Its the metal cased version instead of plastic.
Honestly, the aluminum is really easy to cut and I actually prefer it over a plastic model.

Awesome scott! I really would love to build one of these to add to my collection one day. I actually used to live within walking distance of the original Evil Dead cabin location. Nothing left but a chimmney.

I just told that wife that as soon as we get settled, I'm going to try my hand at this. She's fine with it, as she knows not to get in between me and my man-crush with Bruce Campbell. :lol

Wow looks great. I am also in the prcess of making one of these. I'm having trouble getting the engine disassembled at the moment. I hope mine comes out as nice as yours. Thanks for sharing.

My saw is now complete.
Bruce Campbell has signed it, and I had a picture taken with him as well.
I wish I could say that meeting him was a great experience, and all that stuff.
However, there were SOOOO many people I was lucky that he even spoke.
I lined up at 11:30am to meet him and get a signature, then the plan was to go to the photo op for a picture.
By the time the photo and signature happened it was 7pm.
I am really mad with the con organizers.
Absolutely awful crowd control.
My meeting with Bruce went like this....
Hello
Hi, would you sign my saw
Sure, looks nice
Thank you
Next....
That was it
The photo op was pretty much the same
Hey, how you doing.
Good thanks
Stand here
snap
Thats a good one
next
There ya go, 80 dollars and a day gone by.
Here are a few final pics..

I would gladly stand in line for that long to have your experience. Good job. :thumbsup

In the process of moving, I was over at my wife's grandparent's house and happened to see a certain chainsaw model in the garage. I offered her grandfather my chainsaw, which is much MUCH newer in trade. As soon as we're finished and settled, the Homelite XL is mine. :love

I'm not sure if I have time to finish it before Halloween, and I do already have another project started for my costume, but considering it's Evil Dead, I've got no problem shelving the current WIP.

Excellent job! Sorry to hear about the crowd control problems, at least you got to meet him, even if it was brief and impersonal.

Absolutely brilliant work, one of the nicest replicas I've seen! And signed by the man himself, just awesome!

pretty cool chainsaw ! what is the longer of the blade did you used for this one , and the model ?

damn, Bruce grew old.
however, your chainsaw turned out great.
if the chain would be moving, it would be perfect ;)

Hellz Yeah, I just organized a trip to Wizard World Philly in June, but I opted for the Bruce VIP ticket, so hopefully I have a better experience than you as far as the lines go), Sweet Ass Chainsaw too. I wanna tackle this project later on the summer
