Now for the rest of the parts all it took was a little reverse engineering, sprinkled with some creativity. This was another fun little CAD exercise to tackle..
EB256CB3-D4C2-478A-87BB-95D03690D2AE.jpeg

As mentioned I already had the actual Reads parts on hand and on a previous build (ANH Hero) I already reverse engineered the Motor greeblie itself in full so..

..with this CAD file I simply cut it a little beyond half and added a design inside so it would press fit onto the denix itself. This came out and works just as I hoped..

For the mystery T-track that the antenna greeblies rest up against (which is still very much subjective) it was recently discussed in this post here as to what it could maybe look like. The thought is I believe that it’s possibility the same or a similar part that was used on Greedo’s blaster (NOT the Greedo Killer FYI). This (pic below) is obviously my interpretation of what was being discussed and how it came out..

For the CB cord I didn’t want to glue it or drill into the back of the denix itself so I created this design to hold it in place. The CB cord itself you can get off Amazon. This is the one I used (I also bought a phone cord at the same time and it’s works in a pinch as well). But this looks the parts and works perfectly..

This is the part that was created to hold the cable and as you can see it came out pretty good..

And there you have it. This is how I personally brought my Merr-Sonn into a realty. Obviously it’s not a magic trick and there is a lot of people that go unthanked who played a role without even knowing it. It’s generous posts like this one that allows others to throw their hat into the ring to begin with.

So thank you!

However you choose to go about bringing your vision into a reality, make no mistake.. THIS IS THE WAY!

I realized I have not been posting pictures of some of my most recent builds. I call these my OCD builds simply because I’m constantly trying to improve upon them.

This one has been built on fully reworked Denix’s with new hammer, trigger, lock frames, upper receiver slid forward, 2 part extraction mark (milled and physical), mag plat details, sight reworked and milled.. etc.. lots of fun stuff that takes these builds to the next level.

So this blaster build is from 12/7/2020.

It’s a Luke Skywalker Bespin. All the parts used to compete the build are in fact synthetic. Outside of the Denix obviously and the screws to hold everything in place along with the glass lens that’s is. Most are MJF prints while some specific parts are resin. The denix itself as I mentioned was fully made over..

This is another one of my OCD builds as I mentioned above. All the same mods have been done to the base Denix ( new hammer, trigger, lock frames, upper receiver slid forward, 2 part extraction mark (milled and physical), mag plat details, sight reworked and milled..) etc.. that take this build again to the next level.

This blaster is from 5/4/2021

This one, also a Bespin blaster but this time its the Han Solo verison. Biggest difference out side the paint job and weathering is not only the full light port but the mount itself is a little different compared to Lukes. If you notice Han’s mount has sharper corners. Look into it yourself if you don’t believe me. They are there..

All the parts again used to compete this build are in fact synthetic and the denix has been fully reworked as mentioned..

Thank you very much for providing these!

Is the "texture" part of the actual STL file or just a result of the rendering?
Might want to try some parts on my resin printer...

That's the same way I've been scaling things! It gets me close enough, within a few mm usually, and you can eye-ball check... because sometimes things tipped towards or away from the camera throw off the math. Great work.

Texture? At first I thought u ment MJF and how it prints with subtle texture but I see what u mean now.. on the Thingivers page it looks like it’s textured doesn’t it?

No the STL itself is very clean. At least it’s clean on my end before uploading. It simply has to be the rendering. Here is some of my files I’ve had printed in resin to test out..

I’d be very curious to see how ur printer captures these designs myself to be honest. I do everything a little slow so I’ve yet to take the plunge in getting a resin printer to test out for myself. I guess I’m a little intimidated by the learning curve and the strength of the material in the type of printer I could possibly afford. Outsourcing the prints makes life a little easier and one less thing to worry about but I’m getting closer to jumping in..

I attached a lot of the files together so it’s easier and cheaper to print in SLS or MJF but if you need any of them individually just DM and let me know..

Oh ya for sure! Thanks for reading it by the way. This was also a simplistic approach for my scaling as well. I’m sure you do the same and use as many pictures and as many angles as possible to pull the numbers?

For this MS though pictures are limited to those 4 but for the push buttons you can find pictures of them from all sides if you look. It all helps for sure. All one needs is a jumping off point and from there you can get a lot of things pretty accurate IMHO anyways.

I shared my Compac numbers with someone who has a real one and (he can attest to this) they came out really close from scaling alone. He was kind enough to correct some numbers but scaling does work. Top is a real vintage Compac and bottom is the replica..

I do use inches not that it really matters. Is MM more common for designing? I see a lot of people reference MM instead of inches?

Regardless you can get parts accurate enough that some have a hard time believing it’s even possible I guess..

OdiWan72 just an FYI I wouldn’t do the hammer in resin as it probably won’t have the strength to withstand the snapping? Cosmetically it will work just fine but it might also break if you want to play with it. I definitely recommend using MJF for that part alone. Obviously you would have to outsource it but it won’t break and you can snap the hammer all day long that way.

You’re more than welcome to print them however u like but I just wanted to share my 2 cents..

This next build is from Sept 2021. It’s another OCD build but this one does push the envelope just a little further than before. Adding to the ever growing list of mods, this one has.. stamps .

Pretty much all of them as well!

They where kindly gifted to me from someone who asked of nothing in return. These stamps mind you have a value within this prop community that almost makes them priceless.

I’m still today touched by this gesture so in return I offered him a Stembridge. This build was to be my first full solo venture into CAD without training wheels. Every part I wanted to reworked from the ground up. Even jigs were created so each stamp would find its rightful place.

Before I share pics of the finished blaster, here are a few that show some of these old and new “OCD” details..

This is my recreation of the Stembridge blaster carried by Han Solo in The Return of the Jedi.

It’s another OCD build that also includes all the same Denix mods ( new hammer, trigger, lock frames, upper receiver slid forward, 2 part extraction mark (milled and physical), mag plat details, sight reworked and milled..) etc.. but this build does add to that collection with the addition of Stamps.

This blaster build is from 11/10/2021

All the parts again used to compete this build are in fact synthetic and the denix has been fully reworked as mentioned..

These are great! I know that this isn't quite as exciting as blasters to most, but all of these new photos have provided some great new looks at Han's ANH costume/belt/belt tools as well. One of the above photos gives the best look yet at the recently discovered Ronnette microphone element affixed to his belt. I don't think there's any denying that it's the correct piece, now. Pretty cool! This angle seems to confirm that it was the white mesh variant, too, as opposed to the grey mesh variant. OK, didn't mean to de-rail. I'll take this info to their appropriate threads ;)
