With the North Texas prop party behind me, I can take a breath and show everyone my new collection! I took a couple days off last week to finish up everything I had started recently (because that is what we all do, right? How many projects have you started and not finished :lol)

Here is what I did in 48 hours:
    - Finished my IM lid (electronics and magnets, touch up paint) - build thread here
    - Finished my Mjolnir custom handle/repainted head and began the display base - build thread here
    - Finished my GK - didn't even have time to make a thread! :lol
    - Finished my E11 - build thread here
    - Finished my Cap shield (start to finish in 2 days!) - really didn't have time to make a thread! :lol
    - Finished the display stand for my OWK saber - build thread here

It was a whirlwind couple of days!

Still need to finish shaping the "rock" display and paint it up, and then figure out how I'm going to display everything here at home!

Thanks! I went the budget route a la Valor, using a steel saucer sled as the base :)

Every collection starts off somewhere. I started with 1 Subaru Transformer and now have over 600 in a room. I swear they breed.

I saw all this stuff in person and it's all VERY impressive. I really liked the Iron Man helmet and Cap's shield. And the Obi saber, very nice.

    A quick update...

Finished off the Cap shield yesterday. Restripped the back of rust spots from the prop party rain, then clearcoated it. Finished up the metal and leather work for the arm straps, and attached them!

Also decided to try out another Mjolnir handle, closer to screen accurate:

AND! I received my raw cast of a TFA helmet today from roblenzz:

Can't wait to get started on that one!

Finally got around to cleaning up and painting my resin adamata scope. Mounted it and did some light weathering to match the rest of the blaster

Thanks Brad! The funny thing is I sold the shield and am working on a new spun aluminum one, I sold the IM helmet and upgraded to one of Finhead's (along with some other pieces... thread to come soon :love), I sold the arc reactor and replaced it with one of ThrowingChicken's updated arcs... The Star Wars stuff are the only things I haven't really touched :lol

Awesome setup. Better than how I have mine arranged for sure. You should be very proud of a small, but worthwhile and meaningful collection.

You should, Michael! I just used a cheap plastic airsoft for the base. One day I'll replace it with a Denix or something similar. Almost seems a shame to have that real flash hider on a plastic gun :lol

    Re: My (meager) collection showoff

Thanks everyone for the kind words! :thumbsup

The Iron Man helmet pictured above was a Gemini Khan/Pannaus Props cast I cleaned up and painted. The eyes were LED strips wired and "boxed" (you can see what I mean in the thread I linked in the OP). I sold the helmet a few months ago and got a Finhead cast, which I'm currently working on. Waiting on paint to get here to finish it :love

The stand pictured above for the helmet is just a simple wood candle holder I got at Wal-Mart, flipped upside down and screwed a wooden dowel to the center

    Re: My (meager) collection showoff

So a year later, and another NTX prop party approaching (tomorrow!) I scrambled again to get everything finished up... Here are a couple quick update shots to show where my collection stands now :)

    The Avengers:

    New from last year:
    - "upgraded" my Iron Man helmet to a Finhead bust (for now... still a possibility of going the full 1:1 statue route!)
    - Cap shield and helmet: spun aluminum 26" disc with 9.5" center, painted with Duplicolor Anodized paints and satin clear coat, bracket and leather work done by myself; helmet is from roblenzz, painted and leather work done myself, mounted on a S.H.I.E.L.D. crest plaque by hdtheater
    - Thor helmet and Mjolnir: my Disguise Mjolnir repainted and weathered, mounted on a Mjolnir capstone base (again by hdtheater--thanks Eric!) with an ebay helmet my wife got me for Christmas, repainted by me
    - "Proof That Tony Stark Has A Heart": arc reactor kit by ThrowingChicken, display stand and glass by Luke0312

I've also updated my Star Wars collection:

Added a Vader ESB and a Luke ROTJ hero in addition to my Obi AFBB

Also, just finished this last week:

Spat Spulse rifle with Matsuo grenade launcher and scratch built barrel and vent assembly

There are a lot more smaller pieces I still need to photograph, including a LOTR Sting and Magnoli Middle Earth map, as well as some more Avengers/Marvel items (Coulson trading cards, challenge coins)

I'll get some proper "studio" pics of each piece soon!

Thanks guys! I'll be cleaning up the display over the next couple of weeks to tie everything together.

The saucer sled can be found at a bunch of different places, I got mine locally. Amazon has it listed for around $40 right now. It is called the Flexible Flyer Steel Saucer Sled and is 26" in diameter

Re: My (not-so-meager anymore!) collection showoff

Haven't updated in a while... Here's a couple upgrades and additions:

Recently put together one of BradleyFett's X Wing helmets, and opted for Luke's design. I still need to do some weathering to it, permanently attach the mic and chin strap, and add the ear cups inside. The stand it hangs on was CNCed by hdtheater (incredible work as always!) out of Medex, which is a higher grade of MDF, and totally worth the price. Painted by me.

I also upgraded my Han Solo "Greedo Killer" by using a Denix base instead of the cheap, plastic airsoft I used before. I machined to scope mount myself, with the exception of the knobs, which scottjua did for me. Scott also machined to barrel adapter for the flash hider to fit on the Denix correctly. I also custom-made the display stand it rests on

You'll notice my Obi Wan AFBB is missing from its stand... It now has a new home with another member here, but I should have a complete Roman's Empire AFBB on its way to me to take its place :)

I also made a couple of upgrades to my Aliens pulse rifle. I switched out my scratch-built barrel and vent assembly for some machined aluminum pieces. This finally allowed me to attach my noble sling!

I've got a Man of Steel command key coming soon from Biggeek1979, so I partnered with hdtheater one more time to design a base for it to be displayed on. Eric CNCed the master out of MDF, and I cleaned it up, molded it, and am offering casts. You can find that in the junkyard, if you're so inclined

I haven't decided yet if I want to do a painted version or a cold-cast version for myself... What do you think?

Finally, the focus of my collection is Avengers, and I've added a bit and rearranged everything to look a bit cleaner

I finished my "Proof That Tony Stark Has A Heart" display using ThrowingChicken's arc reactor kit and Luke0312's display kit. Also added in Agent Coulson's Captain America trading card set from eFX, a SHIELD coffee mug from DBCooper, and an Agent Coulson ID/USB card from myself and sinigang. I also just placed an order for eFX's Agent Coulson ID, so that should be here in a few weeks. Finally, the tesseract on the shelf was also made by me using bright blue LED panels, a baseball display cube, and sheet styrene (for diffusion).

Also on display there is the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One box set, which includes all the movies from Phase One (Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, and Avengers) and a bunch of awesome paper props, enclosed in the SHIELD tesseract briefcase.

Not shown is my Book of Eli blade I did a run on in water-jet cut aluminum. I haven't touched it yet, so it doesn't have the edge on the blade or the grip done. One of these days... :lol

Also not shown is my LotR Sting and One Ring replicas, as well as a Map of Middle Earth by Indy Magnoli. I plan on making a custom shadowbox/frame for the map and sword, but I don't have anywhere to display it right now... So that will have to wait!
