It's been more than 11 years since I built this mask and the whole suit.
I forgot I had this issue the publisher sent me once my article was published, back in 2000. Here it is, for the first time, on the web. As my sig claims, this mask was, kinda, built in a cave(my room, as I call it), with a box of craps (if cardboard and scrap foam parts counts). Read along.

Oh, look! It's me and the RPF's Streetjudge79 (Vader, not the kid)

GK,

What an awesome suit.

Thanks for posting the article. That was a fun read. I used to read SF&F but never managed to pick up that article.

Thanks for sharing.

Ted.

very nice indeed! any pics of the build progress and/or better pics of the final product? Excellent Chewie and job well done!

Thanks for the kind words, guys. It's been a long way, and I plan to build a new suit. After all, I still have the $2,000.00 worth of custom-made fur sitting in my closet since 2005.

Given that I used to take pics with film rolls, the photo-taking opportunity were limited, and taking pics of the making of it seemed like a waist of film for a kid building a suit on a shoe-string. Nothing like digital cameras, now-a-days.

JC, you're one of the builders who always gets the feel/tone right on anything you create. It's a bizarre and elusive skill, which you should be really proud of. Great work on this mask, especially given your materials!
