My Captain James Hook - new image!

Here are some shots of my nearly completed Captain James Hook prostetic hook from the Spielberg movie. I sculpted the hook and made the replica from plastic sheets in 1993!!! I was looking for someone who can do the plating for me for years in Germany. But never succeeded. Now here it is in all it´s shiny glory of the movie. Thank you Randy!!!
I made two different replacement hooks. One is a cast from a short original one. The other one is the longer version they used in some other scenes. I sculpted this one back then. I also built a sword like tool. I´m planning to shorten it and add a piece of chalk on top of it. Just take a look:

I will have to complete the bottom of it with some black leather that can be closed with leather straps.

Here are some pics from earlier stages of my Lifsize Figure I made as a teenie. I sculpted the head from clay in three days. I don´t know how i did that - I never have been as fast again. The eyes are moveable. Head and arms are poseable. All made from polyester and vaccuumed pieces.

It´s still not completely finished. I still need the correct metal belt buckle and another hat. Than I like to replace the head sometimes also with a silicone version of it i can punch in the hair, the eyebrows and so on.

I´m also doing this aluminium and golden version of the hooks. So I let them cast in metal. This is how this progress is so far:

Finally here are some compairisson shots. They show how it began and the final look of the casted hook from the original.

I´m so happy finally seeing the end of the tunnel. I´m looking forward hearing your opinions.

Like it... Great work...

I would like to see more replicas from the movie, but there are not too many...

awesome work, and I think you are probably the only person with a Full James Hook figure, I know I havent seen one before.

Re: Captain James Hook´s hook finally plated

You should get a headcast of Dustin hoffman so you could make the face even better.

Re: Captain James Hook´s hook finally plated

Thank you guys. For the silicone version I will take an updated version of my old sculpt. I have some sentimental feelings for my teenie sculpt. I just found my old main reference pictures. I like to share them with you. here they come:

That is excellent work! Can't have a Hook's hook without it being that shiney and regal-looking. Looks amazing.

Hook is one of my favorite pirate-related movies...only prop I've ever done from that movie as the ransom note.

Thanks again, guys. It makes me happy that you like it. :)

Ramsey. I love your great Hook letter. Wish to have it. It´s amazing.
Yeah. I feel the same way as you do about that movie.:$

Re: Captain James Hook´s hook finally plated

Awesome job on the hook!!!!!

Thank you Vaderdarth!

As you can see, I also need a stand base for it.
I´m thinking of something that makes him stand higher (because Dustin Hoffman is not a very tall man) maybe something that looks like a part from his ship. Do have any ideas for a perfect Hook-Stand? :unsure

Re: Captain James Hook´s hook finally plated

Maybe a wood plank base to look like the deck of the ship with a railing either in front of or behind the figure?

Re: Captain James Hook´s hook finally plated

How about mounting it on an old fashioned hammer/bell alarm clock? I mean, what says Hook more than that?! :love

WOW! Both are very great ideas. I have to think about it. It´s definetly the direction I like to go...:)

Re: Captain James Hook´s hook finally plated

Looks fantastic. Glad I could help get those pieces Chrome plated for you. If anyone else needs things Gold or Silver Vacum-metalized or plated...the place I go to is http://www.vacmet.com/ and ask for Kevin Franke - he knows the process. This place in California is the very same place Lucasfilm had the original Indy Idol plated and the New Hope C3P0, and I think the EP3 version too. They charge $550 for a batch, and a Batch can be able the size of 8 head sized pieces or alot of smaller parts, or an upper droid torso, head and arms, or lower section... Chris B. (TK-409) uses this place for his full wearable plated C3P0 that he's worn on LFL approved events.

Looks great...glad it all worked out

Re: Captain James Hook´s hook finally plated
