    Hi everbody,
a few weeks ago, i've decided to make the cap costume from the coming avengers movie.
Not excatly the movie suit... my own interpretation.
Cause... i don't like the boots, i've decided to order other ones...
Here is a pic which boots and gloves i will use:

But first i begun with the helmet...
Uhm... not straight the helmet... first i've needed my head to make the mold.
I never did it before, so it was very... hmm... amazing and funny.
My first attempt to make a modell of my head was a little desaster, so i had to do it again and that's what it looks like now:

Than i begun with forming the helmet... to make the story short:
The first helmet didn't fit and i've needed a second try. That't what i did this sunday the whole day. Now i have to wait till it's dry to go on:

Gloves arrived yesterday and i think, they fit perfect:

After a few days of working, here are some pics of the helmet with color:

In the background you can see the boots i will use.
The paint is a bit too shiny. I will make it more matte (right word?) with a coat of matte clear finish.

The ear caps are not attached to the helmet at the moment. I don't know, if i should attach them or not.

The helmet is not that perfect but i like it :)

    Ok... it's going on.
I know... it's far away from being perfect but it's my first completely self sewn suit... next will be the collar tomorrow. May be i will start the belt these days the chest star, the shoulder stripes and... most important... the shield...

This is a fantastic build! Quick question though, what did you do for the cowl part, the undermask? I'm trying a build similar to this and I'm getting hung up on that part.=\

That was the simplest part of all:
Got a 2 way stretch lycra, draw the shape of my head with neck on it and sew it together. After that, i've put it on and draw with a pencil the shape of the hole for the face on it.
Cut the hole and... finish... :)

Ok... at the shooting i've noticed, that my gloves are not very comfortable, because my skin can't breathe in them...

So i've decided to remake them.
This time the gauntlets are made out of latex:

Too bad, that the latex needs more than 24 hours to dry. But i hope i can finish all next week...

Ok... gloves are ready so far...
I'm satisfied with the gauntlets, but not so much with the gloves.
But they are more comfortable than the thick leather gloves i had before.

Hey I was just wondering (pretty new to cosplay) What did you use to paint the original leather gloves? I've got a WW2 Brubaker version of cap going and the gloves are frustrating me.

Oh and saw your tip on the cowl... so simple it just didn't occur to me THANKS!

Because this project is finished for the moment (changes will come later), i don't want to bother you too much with new pics.
Just want to tell you, that the captain had his first public appearance last weekend at the role play convention in cologne and the reactions were great... it seems, that i'm really the first "first avenger" in germany.

At the costume contest i made the second place... and YES... i'm proud about it.
I could show you many pics from the con, but i don't think, that you really would like to see hundreds of pics from me with nice girls :)

    But...
We found the first secret pic of Avengers Part II.

Ladys and gentlemen... i present this absolut epic pic...

Thank you for sharing your progress with you. I love how you made the helmet and the rest of the suit. The design really makes it unique, and it fits you well. Now..ah, I wish I had the time to do one as well!

May I ask you what kind of material you used for the helmet. Is it latex or some kind of vacuum formed plastic?

    None of both... :)

It's fiberglass... like i've written before:
The mold was made out of latex and then filled with fiberglass. I've needed 3 or 4 attempts, till the helmet fits to my head... and it's still very... VERY small... the problem is, that the latex shrinked a bit and also the fiberglass a little bit. But all these "little bit"s together make a very tight helmet.
It's so tight, that i can't put any padding in it.

But later this year i will start with a new suit.
I've found a perfect fabric to use. This first version i've used only some cheap cotton fabric. I didn't knew, if i could handle it, so i don't wanted to spend too much money for the fabric.

Now i know, what i have to look for while sewing, making the helmet ect...
But i guess, it will be late summer, when i begin with the next one.

First will be the shield... it's really heavy to carry it the whole day. It's about 2kg (4.5 lbs). That's the reason, why i made a shoulder strap for relaxing my arms :)

Awesome build.... Im planing on doing the lifecast of my head/sculpt too, I saw that you said the first one didnt fit did you just add a "padding" of additional clay to the base so that it fit the second go around?

No... because the problem is only a few milimeters, i've just took the fibreglass out of the mold BEFORE it's complete dry (hard) and stretched the sides of it a bit.

Ok... a long time after i've finished my first captain america suit, i've decided to do another one, because i found a better fabric in a sports store.

Here are some pictures of my work in progress:
Don't look at the scary head... :)
I'm still not that perfect in sewing but i'm still learning... and i think, i'm on the right way. :9

It's a little bit tight but i try to loose some weight.

Next step was the trousers... i've been really fast this time... began friday evening with making a pattern:

First time, i sew a zipper in:

I thought of making a hot summer version of cap with shorts:

But after all... today on sunday... only 2 days later, i've finished it:

Ok... i've pimped up my boots.

A few weeks ago i've received my boots from a cosplay shop. Depending on the price, they are not bad. But some parts on the boots are not what i think of a good work. So i've decieded, to update them a bit.

Here is the old version before the update:

I didn't like the leather straps and the fake metal plates...
And the leather round the calf was very thin.

    So i've replaced everything:
