My Ble Max, from the Han Solo trilogy

I love droids, and the more obscure the better. And for my meager skills, I figured little old Blue Max from the Han Solo trilogy would be right in my wheelhouse.

I checked out the threads by Howlrunner and Lichtbringer for guidance and inspiration, grabbed a pile of styrene, carpenter squares, glue, pen and a razor blade and went to work.

My Max will be a bit larger than theirs, as I started off building a 6" cube from styrene. That's where I ended up this morning when I called it a day. Now I'm researching, sketching and about to cut more panels of styrene for the "face".

Nothing to really look at yet, other than a six inch white cube, but I'll add pics as I go along. I'm actually going to try and document this build.

And if a mod could fix the typo in the thread title, that would be great.

now I need to figure out the best way to post pics. For now, I'll link the one drive folder.

Blue Max

I work pretty fast, and this is what I've come up with so far.
Its currently hanging and the primer coat is drying. As soon as that's done, I'll start addi g greeblies, do some clean up, and possibly even get the first base coat of blue paint on him.

I have the perfect red LED for the photo receptor (which will be one of the last things that I install.

Still need antennas and arms.

First coat of blue enamel is drying. Gives me a day to pick up something for the arms and manipulators. I'm pretty sure I'm going to set him up as a Bluetooth speaker, just for fun.

I didn't like the blue enamel paint, so it's getting a coat of metallic blue, color matched to my old Chevy Blazer. So, automotive paint. It's hanging on the rack now ,drying out. I raided my greeblie bins this morning, so I've got candidates for some of the arms and antennae, as well as the LED for the eye, and some EL wire I might stick behind the view screen. More buttons and greeblies will be applied after the paint cures. For a two day speed build, I'm super happy about how this is turning out.

I'm going to basically call him finished. Might do some more topical layers of blue hues and a bit more weathering, and he still needs the Bluetooth speaker.

More pics in the Blue Max link above.

All done from start to finish in less than sixteen hours. I may be getting the hang of this prop building thing.
