I decided to make one thread for all my blaster projects instead of making a thread for every single one. I did so because there won't be updates on the progress every week. This is a long time project, which will depend on many things like getting the missing blaster parts, having free time, the needed machines/tools and so on...

At the moment I am planning to do:
- an E-11 ANH (I guess I will make a mix of Han's blaster and the promotion blaster)
- Leia's DDC ANH
- a DL-44 ANH hero
- a DL-44 ANH GK
- a DL-44 ESB (still not sure which version)
- a DL-44 ROTJ

I would also be interested in building Boba's EE-3 and a Muppet blaster. But unfortunately the Webley flare gun is something I won't get here in Germany.

Here are the parts I already have:

Bases:
- a deactivated Sterling L2A3
- three MGC C96
- a deactivated MCM Margolin

Parts:
- hengstler 400
- M40 tank telescope
- M32 tank telescope
- scope rings for DL-44 GK
- scope rings for DL-44 ROTJ
- M9 flashhider
- wooden C96 scales
- 3x Tom-*** cylinder sets
- a Margolin compensator

So there are many parts, which still need to be found.

Re: My blaster projects

The rear sight of one of my MGC C96s was missing when I purchased it. I was lucky to get a real Mauser sight with 500m markings. It is quite worn and has some marks, but you can still see the scales.

The mounting struts of the Mauser C96 are different to the MGC one, so I had to widen them.

There is no need to trim the inner surface into perfect shape, because it is concealed by the fixed sight. It fits perfectly and isn't shaky like the other MGC sight.

of all projects the DDC or E-11 blaster will be the first to be finished.

So lets talk about the DDC:
Unfortunately I have the shorter version of the compensator. So I will have to find the real deal to be as accurate as possible. :facepalm
I read every Leia blaster thread I could find on the RPF, to be sure this is not a repost. If it is, I am sorry.

It seems every DDC build is based on the MR Leia Blaster, but I noticed some details MR did wrong:

The front sight of the MR blaster has a flat square piece in vertical position. Rubies did the same on their front sight.
But by looking on some promo pics, you can see that it is actually a cube:

I watched the ANH Ceremony scene and I guess the top side of the cube is shining goldish.
It is not the light, because the H&W of the DL-44 is reflecting the light in a white tone.
I wished I could provide a better quality:

What do you guys think about the cube? Could it be made of brass, which was painted black?

Another thing on the MR and Rubies: The slide cotter piece is peaked on both sides. (I hope you know what I mean)
I decided to go with the flat one and it looks more accurate to me. It is hard to tell, because I couldn't find any needful
high-res-version of the pictures. I tried to position my Margolin exactly like Luke holds the DDC in the picture. Maybe I will
try to make another pic with lighting from the right hand side. Nevertheless those peaked slide cotters of the MR/Rubies
blaster always cast shadows and I wasn't able to find any triangular shadow neither in the scene nor on any offical picture.

Thanks mate! I don't know where you're from, but here in Germany it is quite possible to get hands on one.

To put some further information onto this thread, I'd like to share the following pictures:

As it can be read in other threads concerning the DDC, there are many parts used for the margolin pistols, which differ from one another.
At first I bought the short compensator, which is the wrong one. But now I was lucky to get the right one. You can compare both in the picture and I also measured the long compensator for you (3,95cm/1,55").

Here is a comparison of two different front sights. I needed to review all DDC pictures and take some measurements to be sure, I already had the right length (about 3cm/1,18").

That's a nice collection of C96's there. Wish I could stumble upon a MGC or deactivated one that wouldn't destroy my bank account!

Re: My blaster projects

The company, which deactivated the M30 did an awful job: they let the metal dust sit on the surface after the milling, which started to rust. Nothing to worry about, but something, that could have been prevented by the company and preowner. But the really terrible part of their job was, that they broke the tracks of the bolt by pulling the extractor out. I marked the defects with green arrows.

Do you guys think it is possible to weld those spots to get a new surface?

The red arrows indicate the plain surface of the M30's barrel extension, where there have to be two rills each side to achieve the look of the C96 "1912".
The M30 also has the safety with a hole. So maybe it is going to be Luke's blaster, or I'll find an affordable replacement part.

Get a new -deac- extractor/ bolt...I´ve seen one for 50 Euro recently

I see the shiny top as well in the movie. I'm going with a magnet for my sight chunk.

Also thanks for the info on the longer compensator! I was thinking MR was wrong, but sure enough when I look onscreen there it is... and do a few searches turned up more variants showing what you found.

So I had to make my longer compensator from scratch today. My factory one is short like your first one... bummer.
