Here is my Predator bladed gauntlet in it's final stage. It's taken me many man hours to complete between work and family but it is finally done! I have posted two videos of the gauntlet; one while it was in kit form and now I have the final video with the gauntlet operational...I installed a motor for the blades to extend and retract; courtesy of Elkman here on the lair....thanks buddy, it's working great! Well, here are the before and after videos, hope you enjoy watching them.

I'm glad you liked the blade mechanism. Your finished product looks great, especially with the silver leaf on the blades.

I kind of wish I had been able to make the mechanism quieter, though. There was a lot of trial and error involved in getting the gears to mesh up properly, and I think that's part of what made it so noisy. I'm now buying Tamiya gear boxes for the assembly. Here's a video of the new mechanisms in action.

Very well done. thanks for posting the video of tips and explaining how it all came together, what worked/didn't work. very helpful. those will look mint on your costume.

Very cool, brother! Would love to see those blades moving at full speed. How'd the other gaunt turn out?
Thanks for the compliment; I'm glad it's finally finished as for the computer gauntlet, it's done as well. I'll be posting another video here soon; it'll be a partial costume video with my backpack and cannon. Cheers brother!

Damn those blades are sharp lol
Great to see them in close view. How big/small is the controller?
Thanks for the compliment; the controller is just a small toggle swith held in hand and the motor is fairly small but powerful to hold up and operate two solid resin blades. It's a good build, I recommend getting one.

Thanks, I'm just hoping the costume all comes together; I'm fretting airbrushing my mask myself. It'll be my first go at the art of the airbrush; it's such a nicely sculpted mask and I don't want to ruin it. Anyhow, I'm gonna give it a shot and see how it all ends up. Cheers to ya!

Hey elkman, the gears work fine and the speed is great with new batteries. I'm just afraid I'm gonna wear out the motor and track because I keep using it...lol it's a great piece so no worries. Thanks for everything bud!

Hey Dude, the design looks nice. I have to tell ya, I have tried using those Tamoya gearboxes and had no luck. If you try pushing or pulling any weight at all the plastic gears strip out. Maybe you will have better luck than I did. I wish they would put metal gears in those boxes.

I'm surprised to hear that. I don't know if you were pushing or pulling a lot of weight with those Tamiya gearboxes, but there's probably a limit to how much force you can put on a plastic gear. So far, they seem to have worked fine for the wristblades I've been building.

If you're looking to do some more heavy-duty stuff, maybe some of the robotics forums might have some advice. (Think of BattleBots and the like.) I was about to get into research like that until I got the Tamiya gearboxes, which seem to have solved my problems so far. And, of course, if they aren't enough, I can always take apart more inkjet printers and salvage their motor and gear mechanisms.
