After almost 19 years of collecting these Aurora Prehistoric Scenes kits and their reissues to get what I didn't have I'm almost done not only collecting the full line, but I'm also halfway done building them as well.
It has been a long time coming and a labor of love and I'm at the point to where I can start to display them.

I tried to paint them as close to the box art as could with a little it of change as well, but I wanted to stick with the box art as close as possible for the entire line. IMHO this is not a line that needs to be done in a realistic life like colors, they just don't look right IMO when done that way no matter how nice the paint looks.

I've got a complete Cave kit coming from the UK and I got a loose complete Giant Bird kit I got off eBay coming this next week.
Aside from a few missing parts from the Tar pit, Jungle Swamp, Allosaurus base, 2 nd Sabertooth tiger base, and a couple name plates, I've got everything.
I just found a Cave Bear kit to complete the line in full.
I still have several kits I have to build or repaint, but this is what I have fully done so far.
It has been a long, but fun road.
I'll update the pics whe I got some more kits done, here in the next couple weeks.
Enjoy a blast from the past with these great kits.

Sooo Cool!

I had that Tranny-Rex too. I remember painting red with a a yellow belly and yellow warts just like the Huge box-cover Art!

What a fun kit that was.
Great collection!

I'd forgotten about these wee beasties of my youth !! Nice to see them again. My personal favorites were The Tar pit, The Cave and The Big Bird (Phorocorus I think its spelt). You've done a lovely job of painting them. Thanks for posting and the memories.

I had the T-Rex back in 1986 and used it for a diorama for 6th grade science class.

Mine was painted in a realistic olive drab green with a light tan underbelly.

I had the three on your top shelf! Great models! My T-Rex had glowing eyes and teeth though, but was red overall. In fact I think in some box I still have the sabertooth tiger that my dad found in a box at his house (along with a Seaview and Rommel's Rod ... but I don't remember if I kept them or tossed them as they were in really bad shape).

Cool. I got those as a kid, lost them and slowly started to get them back. I got a sealed Allo with the Sabretooth for 50 bucks a few years back. My plan is to do them all up right, but I remember what a pain styrene is and all those seams!

Had a few of those as a kid.

Glad to see the puke or whatever it was coming out of the allosaurus mouth has been removed.

Well, not exactly.... I removed it myself. I could never stand that on the dino and I never got it because of that, so I decided to remove it. :lol

I had a bunch of these kits. My first kit was the Tar Pit that my brother got me for .99 the same day we went to see Star Wars at the mall '77.
I got a bunch that following Christmas and birthday all to be lost with time, well acutally I burnt them on my moms garden see how palstic melted. :angry :lol

I had a bunch of those too..and destroyed or traded them for other things when I was smaller :)
I ran across some of the old ones at a little junk shop not too long ago and passed on them cheap because they were missing parts..now I wish I had picked them up and got the newer ones to fill in the gaps.
I may go back and see if they are still there, but, I doubt they will be.

Maybe if the puke part had been molded in clear, might have worked.

I think many of us cut that part off back then.

Nice paintjobs on those!

A lifelong passion for these kits (1st grade when they were in the stores).

By 2nd grade I had about all of them- snapped together with some big glue blobs and terrible painting. But what fun it was to lay them all out on the floor with connecting bases.

Still have all the instructions & timelines.

And slowly picking up the newly made resin mods to turn them into new dinosaurs.

Really a nice job, Lynn.
Thanks for bringing back the memories.

Thanks for the comps Mike!!
These are fun kits, what resin parts did you get? The ones from Alchemy?

That is a great site Clutch! Ian from that site is a great guy to work with, I got a kit from him last week and it was in excellant shape!
