My 2nd foam Bane mask WIP DONE!!!!!!

Thanks dude

Call me dense, but I can't seem to find the second template

You have to use the first picture he posted in the first post as your template. It sucks but it works or you can just look at it and free hand it. I did that and my buddy zoomed in on it to make it bigger and traced it on the computer screen.

THank you for answering his questions. :)

Hi Eric,

Excellent Job!

I have a couple of questions.
I am pretty big guy (6'6", 280lb body builder).
And I have made several costumes in the past.

People are suggesting I be Bane for this year's cons.

I see your template (ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting)

1) How should I adjust the size for me? I can easily measure my head with a myotape.
2) the "triangle" looking shape on the "bottom right" of the template where exactly does that go?

Yup. Use the first picture as a template. I modified it so you wont be needing that triangle thing for the chin like the first template. Enjoy making the mask. I hope you can post your work here. Thank you. :)

Thank you gentlemen
And excellent work for both of you.
I will post progress one I have some :)

Cheers

Another question.

Do you have two "layers" to mask. It looks like is "dremeled" edges. But can't tell.

Also, do you just "slip it on" or do you put it on by putting it together somehow...

Thanks again guys.

Its just one layer. Its a slip on.

Re: My 2nd foam Bane mask WIP

This is awesome! I love your method for making the grooves in the tube, never even would have occurred to me. You definitely improved the proportions from your first one. I don't suppose you'll be making your revised templates available again?

Hello Eric,

Another question, (most likely not the last) :)
The grooves in the tube, I think I found similar tubes.

Judging by the photos, appears you used some kind of clamp? I don't see you how accomplished this.

Thanks again.

I slightly dented the tube around with that tube cutter repeatedly. Its a long process but the effect is great. You can do it while watching tv. Instead of eating popcorn. hehe.

Hey Guys,

I hope you don't mind but I created a better "printable" image for the second template.

t is a attached to this post

Thought I would share with everyone...

Oh and the "blue" areas in the original picture. I didn't know exactly what they were I thought were tape holding pieces together? Either way I left them on the template.

Hey Ericqueen,

I finally made the right sized template. Though, I still think I am going to do it in "Two pieces (front and back) as the thin foam that I have doesn't seem to be to strong. I am using some thicker "puzzle" tiles of EVA foam that seem more durable than the rolled. One tile isn't big enough to create the template as described.

Anyway, couple more questions.

1) The "nose" piece where the tubes connect to. Did you glue two pieces of foam together, then shape it? Then drill the holes for the tubes.

2) Speaking of the holes for the tubes, in the post for your first mask (image link below) I saw a photo where you drilled the holes for the tubes. Any advice on spacing?

3) The "connectors" you are using for the tubes what are they? Especially the blue one and the wide round one. (in image below). I think the rest of them are "noise makers" correct?

Thanks again in advance..

Its better if you follow the 2nd bane mask.

A1: Yup. Its a small piece of foam. I cut and shaped it. Then glued it.

A2: Spacing depends on the thickness of tube that you are going to use.

A3: That blue thing. They are lock handles of those plastic box containers. I saw it. I thought its a shape that i need then melt it and bend it a bit. And thats it.

Not sure why you said this as I am using the second template.

Ok, I guess I will divide equally depending on the thickness.

Thanks for the info on the blue connectors very ingenious :)
What about the wide round ones (the middle tube on the side, not the long main one) what did you use for them?

Thanks again!

Those are the same cable as the long ones. I cut a small one then cut in the middle then snap it over the long one and glued it and painted it. I said dont follow my 1st bane mask coz you asked about those holes that i did. Those holes was not a good idea. hehe.
