My 2004 GB proton pack

Back in 2004 I built a proton pack that was not the most accurate, but not bad either. It was made with Javamonkey vacuformed cyclotron and upper half, many Volguus parts, some propfan, and quite a bit of elbow grease. Like I said, it was not based on a specific pack from a specific movie, but I really look back at this pack fondly. Unfortunately in 2005 I put the pack up for bid on ebay and sold it. I hated letting that pack go, and if I didnt have to pay uncle sam, a honeymoon and wedding expenses, I would have kept it... we have all been there.

There were very few metal parts on this pack besides screws and some hose attachments, but I think it worked. One thing that really bugs the heck out of me is that I never finished the tip of the wand.

Fast forward a few years later, I have started work on a new pack, which I will start to share my progress in another thread, but until now, I would like to show off my old pack.

BTW: the exposure was very high and the rusty areas did not stand out as much in person.

Re: My 2004 proton pack

Is/was that a real bellow on the bumper? It has the "wonky" real bellow look that most replicas trade off for symmetry instead...

I look forward your new build...

Thanks! No, it was not a real bellow, but I guess it does have that real world quality to it though.

The new build will be worlds apart from the 2004 pack. I have quite a few more quality components this time (so I am scratch building less which is probably a good thing because it keeps me from improvising and focusing more on a traditional interpretation of the pack) and I am not in a hurry to really get it done as I was with this pack. I am trying to document this build as much as possible because I thought it would be a bit of fun to do a build diary. In the next few days I should start putting the pics up of that pack.
